How technology can help to provide safe blood access in Pakistan?
We are working on a software, PakBlood, which will allow to put in contact safe blood banks with every hospital. Our software will have to kind of users. 1. safe blood bank : they will implement database with blood samples they posses2. Hospital : they will use this software to know where, nearest, their require blood type is available
Fifty per cent of people need a blood transfusion in their life. A functional blood transfusion service is one of the essential pillars of health care. According to WHO, there are close to 600 blood banks in Pakistan, but they are working independently without uniformity, quality standard or regulations. Thus it increases risk of transmitting infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C. In Pakistan there is no systematic approach for processing the population with safe blood transfusion yet.
