A WHOLEHEARTED INTIATIVE ACROSS PAKISTAN

PakTurk Parents School is a unique initiative taken by PATLE (PakTurk Academy of Teaching & Learning Excellence). Under this project “Training of Trainers Seminars” were organized in Islamabad. It was an in-depth and comprehensive three-day program that equipped professionals with the knowledge, techniques and materials to conduct parenting classes in their cities. 40 participants from different cities of Pakistan joined the program, who would later impart training to the parents of their students in their respective cities.

The three-day seminar focused on understanding the philosophy of nurturing parenting, assessing high-risk parenting beliefs and environments, creating competency-based parenting lessons and programs tailored to meet the individual parenting needs of families, and implementing programs at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention.

Important parenting themes like creativity, child abuse, hyperactivity, effective study techniques, stress management, sibling rivalry, effects of TV and computer on children, importance of games and children motivation were some of the seminar titles. Participants also learnt how to monitor the success of families through on-going process evaluation strategies designed to measure the attainment of parenting knowledge and skills. The participants learnt to help parents set consistent, reasonable expectations based on their child’s age, developmental and skill level.

Keeping in view the present day breaking family structures, the initiative of Parents School is believed to be a wonderful idea that will help the parents bring up the long awaited golden generation.
