PALLAVI MODEL SCHOOL-BOWENPALLY Monthly Newsletter 1 st -28 th February 2019 Principal’s Message: We have come to the end of another successful Academic Year and preparations are underway to welcome the new session with a plethora of activities and challenges. Our primary focus is to create exceptional students who in turn make an amazing society to live in. 2018 – 19 has been an eventful year as our students emerged victorious in various Inter School competitions be it Art, Literary or Sports We want to ensure that our students gain the necessary skills and experience to take on life beyond school. In order to educate, foster good values and instill a social responsibility in our pupils we have actively engaged them in various causes and momentous endeavors such as Kerala flood relief, Heritage walk, Street plays on Road Safety awareness, International Yoga Day etc. As we are celebrating our Silver Jubliee this year, we hope to inspire and nurture our students with exciting opportunities in Academics, Sports, Arts and Social service activities. We encourage our esteemed parents to regularly check our Newsletters to keep yourself abreast of the curricular as well as co-curricular activities. We also appreciate and welcome your valuable suggestions in the process of empowering students with the necessary intellect and character and ensure that they emerge as global leaders. Principal’s Message:

We have come to the end of another successful Academic Year and

preparations are underway to welcome the new session with a plethora of

activities and challenges.

Our primary focus is to create exceptional students who in turn make an

amazing society to live in. 2018 – 19 has been an eventful year as our

students emerged victorious in various Inter School competitions be it Art,

Literary or Sports We want to ensure that our students gain the necessary

skills and experience to take on life beyond school.

In order to educate, foster good values and instill a social responsibility in

our pupils we have actively engaged them in various causes and momentous

PALLAVI UPDATES

Special Assembly:

Students of Grade VII had put up a special assembly thanking the

Principal, Headmistress, faculty and the support staff as well for their

unstinted support and guidance. They kept the audience mesmerized

with their catchy medley, a foot tapping dance and a hilarious skit.

Hobby Darshan:Hobbies play a significant role in a student’s

life. It instills confidence, creativity andhelps them acquire expertise.

To give a glimpse of their skills Hobby Darshan 2019 was held in the

Middle block. Our principalMr. N. S. Srinivas graced the occasion.

Students showcased their talent and skills such as music, dance, karate

etc. with the able guidance of the teachers. The parents were

mesmerised with this fabulous display and the students were delighted

to be a part of this enriching experience.

Club Activities: The core aim of education is to foster all round development. To achieve a

well-rounded personality, apart from academic achievement a student

needs to develop essential skills like commitment, leadership, team work and

effective communication. School clubs are a wonderful means to achieve it in

a supervised setting.

Pallavi Model School, Bowenpally has always been a strong advocate of

nurturing these skills in our students. We have provided the students with

an impressive array of clubs. Students could opt for their favourite club

based on their own interest and sensibilities. Clubs play a vital role in their

school years as they provide them with concrete experience and countless

learning opportunities.

Glimpses of the club activities (2018-19)

Club Incharge: Ms. V.Sangeetha

Dramatics club enables students to explore, generate, shape and

communicate their own ideas in creative ways. It also provides a wonderful

platform to develop their self-esteem and a powerful tool for spreading

awareness. It is one of the most sought after club as they are pretty excited

to give a form to their imagination and creativity. With the able guidance

of the club faculty grades V, VI and VII always came up with their best

performances.

There were certain truly poignant moments when grade VII had highlighted

the social evils prevalent in our society such as child labour, through a very

touching and inspiring skit. Their compelling characters had left a deep

impression on the intended audience and their message was well- received.

Grade VI members impressed the club in mimicry and would enact dialogues

of famous personalities. Their skit on peace and harmony was well

appreciated.

Grade V skits were brilliant too. It displayed their team work and their spot

improvisation was always mind-boggling. Their Unity in diversity themed

skit was pretty impressive with their dialogue delivery and staging.

We hope to nurture more talents and build responsible citizens as drama

helps students to develop empathy and endurance.

Club Incharge: Ms. Leena Yadav

The cultural club is a social group of people who enjoy attending cultural

events. It is about developing talents and growing as an individual. This club

nurtures your talent in Dance, Music and Tabla.

The club promotes equal opportunity and enhances their cultural

competence. These activities helps them to develop professionalism,

involvement and improve their interpersonal communication.

Club Incharge: Ms. Srivani.K

Quizzing is the art of the intellect. General knowledge contributes to

personal enrichment and a better understanding of the world as a whole.

The GK Club helps to update the knowledge of the students in various fields

like academic, general knowledge, analytical abilities, quantitative

reasoning etc.

The GK club activities for 2018-19 started with discussions on a variety of

topics for the budding quizzers. The club focussed on maintaining a book

with the various information gathered under current affairs, science,

mathematics, technology, personalities, awards, Countries-capitals-

currencies.

Quiz was conducted every week to ensure active participation and give an

interactive platform to excel beyond academics.

Knowledge club engages the students in various interesting activities where

they eagerly look forward to share and gain knowledge on various topics in

the form of discussion, debate, at times through skit using charts and models.

As they say “ To attain knowledge add things everyday” students kept

adding knowledge on new topics in every club session, thus inspiring each

other to attain the three elements “Intelligence, Knowledge and

Applicability. ”

Knowledge club helps the students take the right course in life and guide

them to stand up for themselves and society at large.

The aim of teaching and study of science are to encourage and enable

students to develop inquiring minds and curiosity about science and better

understanding of nature. The science club imbibes scientific temper in

children and helps to channelise their energies wisely.

The students were divided into groups depending on their interests. Each

group had performed various activities like slogan writing and poster

making competitions. They made best out of waste to showcase their

scientific temperament. The activities helped them to improve their critical

thinking and problem solving skills. Science club instills scientific confidence

in students and encourages rational thinking. .

Club Incharge: Ms. Malathi

Interact club is an initiative to render humanitarian services and peace

around the world.

“We are not here to rule the world. We are here to serve it”

As part of the club, regular discussions and essay writing on NGO’s, child

labour, girl child education,Swacchh Bharat etc. was conducted. Students

came up with their views on the importance of girl child education as it

helps to improve the status of the family and society at large. The students

also discussed the steps taken up by the government to stop Child labour and

the incentives given to the children to stop the drop outs from schools.

To inspire the students the role of NGO’s that are working at various

capacities to improve health, education and the basic necessities for the

downtrodden people in our society were regularly emphasized.

Club Incharge: Ms. K. Sreevani

Intach club aims at enabling students to discover the cultural legacy and heritage of our country. Students are exposed to the values and importance of our Indian heritage, culture, architecture and tradition. Students of this club had put up a great show on “HIROSHIMA DAY”. They had enacted the happenings of that fateful day through inspiring speeches and innovatively shared the incident in Telugu through ‘Burra Khatha”. Regular activities such as debates were also conducted on the importance

and necessity of preserving our Indian architecture, heritage, culture and tradition. The Students were regularly engaged in tasks highlighting the culture,

custom, architecture, monuments, and tradition of a particular state or

union territory.

Club Incharge: Ms. Asha Verma

Literary club aims to develop analytical and creative thinking skills in

students. It offers opportunities to appreciate different types of literature

and increase their own literary skills. The Literary club aims at not only

refining the literary skills of the students, but also developing the logic and

curiosity to know more and to instill in them confidence to speak well.

The academic year of 2018-19 was filled with cheer and joy and was an

exciting year for us. The prime competition organised by us was the English

Elocution. The students enthusiastically participated in the competition by

demonstrating their skills leaving the audience in awe.

The activities of this club involved the creation of written materials in

various forms such as short stories, poetry, essays, articles, riddles, jokes, etc.

Also, competitions like extempore were conducted on various topics for

example: Is homework important? Necessity of morning assemblies,

Technology: Boon or Bane?

CAUVERY HOUSE

The desire to experience the fullness of living leads to constant activity.

Rightly, Red colour of our house is the colour of extremes, passionate, love,

adventure etc. Red is associated with energy, power, determination and

passion as well. Pasion for achievement has made our team strong. Our team

worked uniting ourselves when required and excelled in sports and also

other literary activities.

SaiHarshitha of VII D and Aditya Chigullapally of VII B were awarded the

best sports girl and boy respectively.

We thank each of our team members in making the flag of Cauvery to fly

high.

GODAVARI HOUSE

‘For when the one great score comes to mark against your name, he writes

not that you won or lost but how you played the game.’

The new academic year 2018-19 brought with it many new hopes, challenges,

joys and definitely new obligation and responsibilities. Although success was

not achieved in every field but the yellows never believed in surrendering

before difficulties. Yellow, colour of our house signifies determination,

innovation and confidence. As per the motto of our house ‘unity is strength

‘we have worked as a team with dedication and hard work and achieved the

impossible. The discipline, dedication and the unity of our house was at his

best when we were awarded the shield for the best house in sports. We have

excelled in sports and other literary activities. Srujan and TeekshnaSaraf

from 7 A were awarded the medals for the best sports boy and sports girl.

Without the constant help and motivation of teachers we would not have

been able to reach our goals. We hope that we continue to do well and carry

the momentum forward in the coming years too.

We believe ‘With time and patience the mulberry leaf becomes a silk gown’

KRISHNA HOUSE

The session 2018-19 started with an optimistic note. Every student has some talent, all that is required is motivation and encouragement. Inter house competitions were conducted throughout the session and be it literacy or sports, our students left their mark and brought laurels. These competitions help to bring out the best in the students and inculcates team spirit and cooperation in them.

We were proud to be adjudged winners of inter house debate. Our students gave a tough fight to our competitors.

To name a few, Stuti Tiwari of 7 and SaiSrived of 5-B collected trophies in inter school events like chess, music, singing etc.

“We have won many times, but if we don’t know the losing pains, then we don’t know the happiness of winning.’’

On the whole quick and eventful year! With many wins and misses but the experience counts.

GANGA HOUSE

The blue colour of our house stands for prosperity and progress. It carries a

message of hope and positive thinking and with this in mind, students of

Ganga house were determined to succeed.

“Success often comes to those who dareto ,seldom goes to the timid, who are

afraid of the consequences.” The academic year 2018-19 brought new

challenges and responsibilities. Ganga house faced every challenge with grit

and courage because winning or losing never concerned us, our sole aim was

to do our best. Under the able guidance and motivation of house teachers,

the house secured first position in Inter-House essay writing competition (

class VII), Hindi Recitation(class VI), Football competition(Boys), Carroms (

Girls singles), Swimming(Girls), Declamation(Class V), Rangoli Competition ,

Table-Tennis (Boys singles).

We hope to continue the winning streak next year as well.

Achievements and Accolades:

It is with great pleasure we would like to share that our students of grades

V, VI and VII bagged the champion trophy at the Hare Krishna Heritage

Fest held at RavindraBharati Auditorium . 18420 pupils from 1,016 schools

participated in this event. The following students made us proud by winning

accolades in the following categories.

Events:A team of trained experts from Prasad Hospitals held a

comprehensive health check-up for students. These data facilitates the

assessment of a child’s growth and development through the school

years and can be lifesaving during emergencies.

Procter & Gamble conducted an awareness programme on puberty

and development for grade VII girls.

SIP Academy India held a Math Wizard Contest for grades V, VI and

VII testing their speed, accuracy and arithmetic skills.

Our students enthusiastically participated in this contest as it was an

experience that was both emulous and educational.

The qualified candidates would appear for the next level and a

workshop would be conducted for the candidates requiring

strengthening.

Circulars:

Fee challan for the academic year 2019 -2020 was given to

the students on 27 Feb 2019

Others:

Students of grades 6 & 7 participated in NIE Quiz competition

held at Birla Science Auditorium.

Students of grade 7 participated in Dr Harsha’s Exclusive Art

Contest.

Students of grades 5 to 7 have participated in SOF Olympiad

second level exam on 10th February 2019

Annual Exam was conducted as per schedule.

Remedial classes were conducted regularly with prior intimation

to strengthen the academic skills of underachieving students.

Upcoming:

PTM will be conducted as per the schedule mentioned in “School

Schedule from Jan 2019 – Apr 2019 “ Circular

School reopens on 11 March 2019 and the timings are 8:00 am to

2:50pm
