This was one of those signiicant moments in our lives.I would like to explain this a little bit further by quotingfrom the Biography of St. John of the Cross: “For each ofus therearesigniicantmomentswhichmark theendofonepart of our life and the beginning of another. These can be encounters with persons, moves from one place to another, births, deaths, or other events which as welook back become the real measure ofour lifetime more than any calendar”.
With three members from Uganda wecannowsaythatthePallottinesaretrulyinEastAfrica, agreatjoyandagreatchallenge – joy that we are the irstUgandanstomakeaperpetualconse-cration in the Society of the Catholic Apostolate and alsoa challenge as we think of how best we can give authenticwitnesstoChristasPallottinesinUganda.
Uganda has a large Christian population, especially Catholics. It is also “The Land
ofMartyrs” theUgandaMartyrswere theirst witnesses to the faith received frommissionaries in Uganda. Despite such along Christian heritage, the country has
suffered serious civil wars, leaving manyhomeless and orphans, and to make
mattersworse,thecountryhasbeenhitbytheHIV/AIDSscourge.
ThePallottineCharismisneededmorethan ever in Uganda to give a faith-based strength to thesufferingpeople.OurSocietyendeavours to revive the faithof the people of God, and to rekindle charity among them. The people of Uganda need more love and not more wars.By coming to Uganda, the Pallottines, together with manyUgandans, willgivewitnesstoChristandbecomeaneffectivesignofunityforthesalvationoftheworld.
