RN Program Cohort Application Deadlines

The nursing program has two admission cycles during the academic calandar year.

Complete the electronic information session quiz given within this session with an 100% score.

Download the quiz results and save as a PDF (You MUST save the file as a .PDF with first &

last name and student ID in the saved file name.)

Complete the RN Application on the Palm Beach State Engage application platform.

Submit your RN Application with uploaded quiz results and pay the $20 application fee using Engage.

Transcripts can be submitted in person, in sealed envelopes, electronically (if eligible), or by mail to

the Office of the College Registrar.

Applicants must submission of official transcripts from all schools that they have previously attended.

If transferring coursework from a quarter hour-

based institution a credit shortage may occur.

*Students are encouraged to meet

with an advisor prior to applying if transferring

courses

Transcript tracking is available on student Pantherweb account

under the Records tab.

Coursework and test scores will not be taken

from 3rd party transcripts.

Failure to submit official transcripts will make your application incomplete.

Office website or meet with a campus advisor.

All appeals must be submitted prior to application deadline for processing.

A course may require an appeal if it transferres as one of the following codes:

The CHM1032 prerequisite course can be

replaced with BOTH CHM1045/L (General

Chemistry I/Lab) and CHM1046/L (General Chemistry II/Lab) ONLY!

•Students MUST have both Chemistry courses completed before the application deadline.

Chemistry courses not equivalent to CHM1032,

or BOTH General Chemistry I and II

(CHM1045/L and CHM1046/L), are NOT

ACCEPTED.

Literature/Humanities Course

Requirement

Any 3-credit Literature or Humanities Course

can be used to meet this requirement.

Examples of acceptable courses include:

•MUL1010 (Music Appreciation)

•ARH1000 (Art Appreciation)

•THE1000 (Theater Appreciation)

•AML2010 (American Literature Before 1865)

•AML2020 (American Literature After 1865)

Nursing Prerequisite Science Courses

Core health science courses are required to be completed within 10 years from the date of the application cycle.

Example: Fall 2021 applicants core health science courses need to be completed on/after Fall 2011.

Core Health Science Courses Include:

•CHM1032 (or equivalent)

•BSC 2085/L

•BSC 2086/L

•MCB 2010/L

Nursing Core (10-year)

Science Course Requirement

The Nursing Core (10-year) rule can be waived for BSC2085/L (A & P I ) if the student’s BSC2086/L (A & P I I) is within 10 years of the application deadline.

Example: I f both BSC 2085/L and BSC2086/L were completed and both were taken before Fall 2011, the applicant will be requiredto repeat BSC 2086/L.

I f both BSC 2085/L and BSC2086/L were competed and only BSC 2085/L was taken before Fall 2011, the applicant will not be required to repeat BSC2086/L.

Meeting college placement includes:

ACT/SAT/PERT scores that indicate a “college” level

for math and english.

Completed math and english preparatory

coursework.

Applicants are required to meet college placement requirements for ENC1101, STA2023, and for science

courses.

The HESI Admission Assessment (A2) Exam

Applicants must have a cumulative score of at least 80 on all sections (or the composite score), and a score of 80 or higher

on the math section of the exam.

The HESI exam covers the following (nine) sections:

Pre-Nursing: Admission Exam Requirements

HESI A2 Exam Procedures

HESI exam may be taken every 61 days, up to 3

times in a calendar year (January-December).

Scores are valid up to 2 years from exam completion date.

Due to COVID-19, the Testing Center is

scheduling limited HESI exams on campuses with

a testing proctor.

Access the testing center website for more

information on how to register.

Due to limited seats, you may only be able to take

the HESI exam ONCE before applying.

Seating cancellations may be subject to a $30

cancellation fee.

The HESI exam is $72.00 and must be paid on the

day of testing.

($60.00 HESI exam fee + $12.00 PBSC Testing Fee)

Applicants must complete the Student Registration

Requirements* regardless the campus they test at.

There is NO waitlist for the RN program and

denied applications do not roll-over to the next

application cycle.

Medical and FDLE Requirements

Medical exam completed by a licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner.

Medical exam must include the following requirements:

Proof of negative tuberculous result: PPD, TB Gold or Chest X-ray. *

*(PPD must be completed within year; Chest x-ray must be completed within the last two years)

Titers (bloodwork) or shot records showing immunity to Rubeola (Measles), Rubella (German Measles), and Varicella (Chickenpox).*

*(RESULTS: BLOODWORK OR SHOT RECORDS, MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE LAST 10 YEARS.)

Shot Record, within last 10 years, showing proof of TDap vaccine.

Proof of a flu shot (during flu season: August-March)

Completed Level I Background and Drug screen. (Completed through PBSC health science student database)

List of Background/Drug Screen Requirements needed for program eligibility.

Completed Level II Fingerprinting. (Completed through PBSC health science student database)

Program Licensing Hours

during COVID-19

During COVID-19, traditional

program experiences, like clinical rotations in hospitals, have been

limited to RN students based on community healthcare outcomes.

Because of limited clinical rotations,

part of the required licensing hours will be met through simulated

clinical experiences in simulation labs.

Students are encouraged to meet

with a nursing program advisor with any questions and to discuss the

modified program experiences during COVID-19.

Nursing After Acceptance: Licensure Post-Graduation

Speak to a RN advisor after program acceptance if interested in sitting for the Prometric (CNA) or NCLEX-PN (LPN) exams.

RN program graduates will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN

exam for Florida State Licensure.

New graduates are typically given an exam date within 60 days of program completion.

•Graduates with prior legal issues on their backgrounds are required to submit additional documentation to the Florida Board of Nursing (BON).

The NCLEX-RN exam and dates are administered to students directly from the Florida BON

RN students are eligible to take the Florida Prometric Exam for nursing assistants (CNAs) and/or the NCLEX-PN exam for Practical Nurses (LPN) while they are enrolled in the RN program.

Eligible applicants must submit the following information to the

Engage online application portal by the deadline.

Valid HESI A2 exam scores on file with Student Serv ices.

A completed RN application with all supplemental

documentation.

Supplemental documentation includes:

A completed 100% information session quiz certificate

(You MUST save the file as a .PDF with first & last name and

student ID in the saved file name.)

Submission of the $20.00 Application fee online through

the Engage portal.
