LONG TERM SUCCESS IN SSL
• Depends on more than saving energy • Depends on more than lower price
– Reliability, Lifetime, Color Quality, Consistency
• Depends on more than on/off – Sensors, Modulation, Content
• Depends on more than replacement – Spectral, Temporal, Spatial/Angular, Forms/Functions

TUNABLE SPECTRUM LIGHT – the way nature does it
• RGB is not enough – Too many gaps, inefficient green
• Five colors are a good balance (efficacy, cost) – Example recipe:
• R624p, G519p, B472p, CW6300K, PC(.405, .488)
• Light value increases as LED count goes up
– Falling prices make this a practical trend – Analogous to transistor count increases

If you think under-driving LEDs and 5-color luminaires are not viable?
It’s already happening.
