Wordbock The new translation tool for experts
Does this heap of choices look fa-miliar to you? Well, you are not alone. There are numerous tools for translation online that are often helpful, but cause confusion even more often. Especially when it co-mes to technical terms, you face a ton of suggestions without kno-wing what to choose. The long and tiring search for the correct term often leads to mistakes or an in-consistent translation if every user picks his word of choice. To solve this problem in the field of refrigeration technology and make work for our customers and employees easier, there is Word-bock now on www.bock.de - the first online tool that translates all technical terms of the refrigerati-on and air-conditioning industry.
With this dictionary for experts of the field refrigeration and air-con-ditioning, the correct translation in the languages German, English, French, Spanish and Russian is available with just one click.
The database that will conti-nuously be expanded has current-ly more than 600 words per lan-guage and contains all important words around the compressor and refrigeration related terms and is therefore a helpful tool for the daily work in the industry. The preparation of a presentation or a lecture, the translation of a white paper or individual vocabulary training is thereby not only easier, but also much quicker.
Verdichter: m (tech) coagulant, compressor, (aviat.) impeller, (autom.) supercharger
And if the right term is not avai-lable, the quick selection helps to find similar words that lead to an answer.
In 2012, the Wordbock dictionary will also be available as an app.
So from today you will know straight away Verdichter: (tech) compressor.

“We secure the ecologic an economic heat dissipation and conditioning of fluids in the printing process” is the philosophy of Quint sdi GmbH. A philosophy the com-pany implements successfully on the market with their so-called EPMS-System.
Offset-print is the most commonly used printing pro-cess when books, magazines, maps or forms are pro-duced because the process allows the printing on al-most any kind of paper. However, in recent years the printing industry faces tough competition to meet cus-tomer demands for highest quality, low costs and low environmental pollution. In order to meet those demands for superior quality and fast job change, the printing machine manufactur-
ers responded with a higher degree of automation. Because of the continuously increasing level of auto-mation and the optimization of the production process, printing machines have to be equipped with a growing number of electric drives. To keep the printing process stable and controllable, the heat of the drives, released when operating the system, has to be dissipated with a cooling unit. This is at the expense of the required energy and therefore the operating costs.
The Quint EPMS exclusive System (Energy and Process Management)
Quint sdi focuses on increasing the energy efficiency, a reduction of CO2 emission and an active environmental
Efficient Environmentally-friendly printi ng with the EPMS-System
Installation of an EPMS exclusive – The system is located in a cellar room and is connected to the printing machines in the printing hall
The company Quint sdi GmbH (known as Graphic Solutions GmbH since October 2011), successfully develops energy-saving systems for the printing industry.

Efficient Environmentally-friendly printi ng with the EPMS-System protection in the whole printing process. The EPMS-sy-stem is a customer-oriented complete solution for the energy- and process management in the printing hall and consists of the combination of the systems NAUTI-LUS and AQUARIUS.
The AQUARIUS system is a dampening solution sy-stem for printing machines and leads to sustainable reductions of the operating costs and simultaneous im-provement of the quality of the fountain solution. The fountain solution in the offset print consists mainly of water and is used to separate the parts to be printed and to be left empty on the printing plates. To improve the water quality, the AQUARIUS system adds addivi-tives.
The recooling with the NAUTILUS series collects the waste heat of the water-cooled units and directly re-turns it into the heat recovery.
Using the waste heat
Especially in the lacquer area and where the prints are dried, a lot of waste heat is produced in the printing hall that entails an unnecessary waste of energy if not used efficiently.
In the printing hall of the Jost Druck AG, Hünibach, Switzerland, this problem is solved with the EPMS-ex-clusive system by Quint. The waste heat produced by the machines is extracted and made available to pre-heat the air. This solution makes it possible to use the extracted heat for heating and cooling. The waste heat allows for comfortable temperatures at the workplace and energy costs for cooling down the building can be cut down.
The advantages of this system at the printing house Jost are also proven by those impressive numbers:- 25% less chemicals and fountain solution in the printing process- 30% higher cooling efficiency - 50% lower operating costs in the whole printing process- 50% less heating costs
Beat Hodler, Manager Jost Druck AG draws a positive balance: „Thanks to the energy- and process manage-ment system we print as climate-friendly as possible”.
Also in the printing house Franz Kälin and other com-panies the EPMS system was implemented and impres-ses with its minimum space requirements and energy saving concept. Even with limited space the waste heat of the refrigerating machines, the water chiller as well as the central air-conditioning of the rooms and free cooling can be regulated.
6 | www.bock.de
The advantages of the EPMS-System:
- Efficient and energy-saving printing machine
periphery
- Constant climate in the printing hall and therefore
ideal printing conditions
- Minimum space requirements via compression into one system
- Adjustable temperature in the printing hall
- Use of waste heat for climate control of printing
hall
- Constant energy costs despite energy-intensive
varnishing unit and larger machinery
Tried and tested
The energy and process management systems by Quint SDI GmbH cooperate for years with companies such as Jost Druck AG and the printing house Frank Kälin and ensure the lowest possible operating costs despite in-creasing energy- and commodity prices. This is mainly due to a reduction of the running costs. A price break-down of the costs in the fountain solution process over 10 years shows that only 5% are investment costs and 95% are running costs.
The combined system by Quint consists of the dampe-ning solution circulation system AQUARIUS, a refrige-rating machine with frequency-regulated compressors by GEA Bock and the heat dissipation system NAUTI-LUS
Efficient management of the fountain solution
Big savings can be generated if a large amount of the fountain solution is reprocessed in a way that it can be reused again. The EPMS-system by Quint cools the used water, filters it and then adds additives and alco-hol to the fountain solution.
Energy saving with frequency regulation
Quint also enables enormous cost reductions through the consequent use of frequency regulated drives and pumps. Mr. Ralf Dingeldey, Division Manager Quality Management at Quint: “Since 2002 we only use Bock compressors with frequency regulation for our EPMS- and AQUARIUS systems”. The Bock compressors are regulated by external frequency converters that are stored in the control cabinet. This solution offers advantages such as safeguarding against failure, easy maintenance, easier connection to the controller and lower costs for the customer if re-placement is needed. The system only uses the energy it requires for coo-ling and circulating the dampening solution and heat
dissipation and the pumps and units only run as long as they are needed. This leads to a much better energy balance.
Conclusion
The systems by Quint show that responsible and effici-ent acting in the printing business doesn’t stop with using environmentally-friendly paper, but that there’s a lot more savings potential. By now, numerous printing houses are aware of these possibilities and successfully work with EPMS-systems by Quint and the equipped Bock compressors. They print as environmentally-friendly as possible and at the same time open up substantial energy saving po-tential.

Polar Fascination° GEA Bock Reference
Since April 2010 the Turkish Metropolis Istanbul has a new visitor attraction that is one-of-a-kind - the Magic Ice Museum. The museum in Istanbul’s shopping cen-tre in the district of Bayrampasa is one of the few ice museums in a warmer climate zone.
Visitors enter the inside of the museum through an ice tunnel. A highlight are the 34 artistically manufactured ice sculptures that remind of the Viking invasion 880 AD in Byzantium, today known as Istanbul. But also the Viking ships and houses as well as the en-trance of the museum are true masterpieces made out of ice.
For the construction of the Magic Ice Museum a total of 300 tons ice were needed. 100 tons from Sweden
had to be delivered to the Bosporus, 200 tons of ice came from Turkey.
The temperatures in the museum with a size of approx. 650 m² are constantly kept at -5° Celsius. To make sure that the visitors won’t get cold, they are equipped with Eskimo cloths.
The installation of the refrigerating system was done by the company Frigo Mekanik, Istanbul. Because of the positive experiences with Bock compressors in the past, Frigo Mekanik also chose for this project com-pressors by the German piston-specialist. The systems, both equipped with three HGX6/1080-4 compressors are operated with the refrigerant R404A. To save en-ergy with adjustable speed control of the compressor, one system was equipped with the Bock EFCe System (Electronic Frequency Converter) the other one with a conventional capacity regulation.

Chillventa RossijaIn March the Russian equvivalent to GEA Bock's main fair Chillventa had its premiere in Moskau. More than 5000 visitors and 148 exhibitors from around the world gathered to the Chillventa Rossija in the Crocus Exhibition Centre. Also GEA Bock had a booth as 1 of 26 German com-panies and presented solutions and new technologies around the topic of energy efficiency and speed control via freqency converter technology that will be gain in importance in Russia in the next years. With this focus, GEA Bock met the interest of the vi-sitors and the newly established fair was a great suc-cess.
EuroShopAt this year's EuroShop 2011, the world's biggest trade fair for the investment needs of the retail industry, one fact was obvious: what had already started to be a trend in the last few years presented itself to be a mega trend at the EuroShop – almost all product news of the refrigeration and deep freezing industry at the Eu-roShop were based on the use of natural refrigerants, particularly CO2.
Also at the GEA Bock booth different compressor so-lutions for the use of natural refrigerants and energy efficient systems were presented.
Berthold Schnase, responsible for national sales, reca-pitulated the 5 days at the trade fair: “the EuroShop is the ideal platform to present our new solutions in the area of supermarket refrigeration. We had many promising contacts with target customers at our booth and see a lot of potential in our new 4-cylinder CO2 compressors.“
BusworldWhen the Busworld 2011 in Kortrijk closed its gates on 26 October, one of GEA Bock’s most successful ex-hibitions of the last years ended. It was also the first successful trade fair under the new name.
The number of vehicles with Bock compressors dis-played at the Busworld demonstrated impressively the claim of GEA Bock to be market leader of modern bus air-conditioning systems.Marcus Reuß, GEA Bock Director Sales and responsible for mobile applications drew a positive balance at the end of the exhibition: “We are very pleased to see that two-thirds of all buses exhibited at the Busworld usecompressors by GEA Bock. This fact is exemplary for the success of the past years. At the same time we look into the future with optimism. Not least because we already work together with the leading system manuf-acturers on tomorrow’s air-conditioning systems.“

Due to our increasing compressor program, addi-
tional compressor versions for various refrigerants
as well as shorter optimisation cycles, we are going
to change the documentation of our semi-hermetic
compressors at the end of the year. From now on,
single product brochures replace the current semi-
hermetic catalogue.
To always provide you the latest data material
quickly and at a glance, it was necessary to split
up the whole catalogue that was used in the last
few years.
In the future there will be a brochure for every
field of application with a documentation of the
respective Bock compressors. This way you can
pick exactly the documentation you need for a
specific topic.
From January 2012 the following brochures for
semi-hermetic Bock compressors are available:
HG(HA) for conventional refrigerants, Electronic
Semi-hermetic catalogues in new design
Controls, CO2 compressors, R134a compressors,
ATEX compressors, Duplex compressors as well as
compressor units and condenser units.
From now on you can request all chapters collected
in a ring file or preselect the chapters that are of
interest to you. In this case, you will only get those
chapters sent to you when updates are available.

GEA Grasso -Industrial screw- and reciprocating compressors.
°GEA Bock introduces
In a new series we would like to introduce you to
associate companies of GEA Bock that are part of
the Refrigeration Technologies Segment. Today –
the compressor manufacturer GEA Grasso.
Few activities depend more on absolute reliability than skydiving
and ballooning. The ability to count on both equipment and people
has to be unconditional. And it starts a long time before take-off.
At Grasso, the associate company of GEA Bock, they
see the claims of skydivers and balloonists in many
ways as a model for their approach to refrigeration
technology.
More than 150 years ago, Grasso was founded in the
Netherlands and is part of the GEA Group segment Re-
frigeration Technologies since 1986. Today, GEA Gras-
so produces screw- and reciprocating compressors,
packages and chillers for the food processing industry,
industrial processes and sports and leisure on four lo-
cations in the Netherlands, in Germany at the locations
Berlin and Halle as well as the US and China.
The extensive range of high quality, reliable and mo-
dern refrigeration compressors can be applied in al-
most every industrial refrigeration process. They are
distributed worldwide to contractors, distributors and
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's).
Reciprocating compressors
Grasso's reciprocating compressor range includes 48
Grasso models of compressors subdivided into 6 series
with swept volumes from 100 to 2.390 m3/h. The pro-
gram includes mostly open-type compressors as well
as semi-hermetic ammonia compressors.
The Grasso 12E, Grasso 12 and Grasso 10 series are the
only compressors with a unique welded steel crankcase
that ensures an extremely high heat dissipation. This
allows the operation without cylinder head cooling and
oil cooling in most applications.
Screw compressorsThe supply range of Grasso screw compressors compri-
ses 3 series and a total of 22 models, being one of the
most extensive and comprehensive ranges of industri-
al compressors with swept volumes from 230 to 8560
m3/h.
The three series not only differ in their capacity stages
but also in the degree of integrating functional compo-
nents of the package into the compressor housing.
Patented rotor profile, patented gas pulsation protec-
tion, Vi control for full load and partial load as well
as simple and service-friendly design offer additional
advantages for customers.
