INTRODUCTION
India possesses best breed ofmilch buffaloes in the world. Buffalogenetic resources in India arerepresented by 10 well defined breedsof buffalo, apart from non- descripttype which constitutes around 60 percent buffaloes. Though the Nagpuri
breed is common in Vidarbha regionbut now days Murrah buffaloes arekept by most of the buffalo owners for
milk production.

The Murrah breed is well adopted
to their native tract but it appears thatno proper attention has been given tostudy the Murrah buffaloes on scientificbase in Vidarbha region. Identifying theimportance of this breed in other thanhome tract present study was carriedout to know the productive and
reproductive traits of Murrah buffaloesin Nagpur tahsil with followingobjectives.

MATERIALS AND METHODS
Source of dataThe data used for present investigation
was collected from Nagpur tahsil of Nagpuridistrict (Fig.1) of Maharashtra state. 10 villagesin Nagpur tahsil was selected by nth number ofrandom sampling method. Collection of data
The data was collected by directobservation on 200 adult Murrah buffaloesbelonging to different age groups from 10selected villages in Nagpur tahsil. The data was
categorized in the following age groups.
