CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES AT EASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY
IMPORTANT: Per NCAA rules, all contributors to any athleticprogram automatically become representatives of the department and remain so permanently. Representatives are prohibited from participating in any recruiting activities and from providing any benefits to student-athletes, unless expressly authorized by the department. Any violations of the basic rule may result in permanent loss of membership benefits and priorities. Since we value greatly the relationship between the department and its representatives, we strongly encourage questions and inquiries be directed to the department’s Compliance Office regarding limitations and responsibilities of Panther Club membership.
PANTHER CLUB STRUCTUREThe Panther Club has been the principal fundraising arm of Eastern Illinois University Athletics since 1981. In order to provide flexible avenues of giving the Panther Club is made up of three areas of involvement: former student-athlete membership (EI Club), annual giving & special events (LAIR FUND), and major gifts & planned giving (Legacy Fund).
EI CLUBThe EI Club is the initial level of Panther Club membership composed of former student-athletes and current and former coaches and administrators. The EI Club provides financial support annually for reunions, senior gifts, and the Hall of Fame Banquet. In the spirit of camaraderie the EI Club is dedicated to upholding the long tradition of athletic and academic excellence at Eastern Illinois University. The EI Club will serve its membership by enhancing relationships and keeping former student-athletes connected with their alma mater. LAIR FUNDThe LAIR FUND, the lifeblood of Eastern Illinois Athletics, provides annual funding for scholarships, academic support services, and leadership programs that provide Eastern Illinois University’s more than 400 student-athletes with the resources they need to become well rounded individuals, compete at the NCAA Division I level, and engage in a lifelong pursuit of learning. Investing in the future of a student-athlete through contributing to the LAIR FUND represents your commitment to Eastern Illinois Athletics as alumni, fans, and generous supporters. The financial gifts you provide ultimately transform young adults into future leaders, provide resources for student-athletes to achieve their potential in the classroom, allow student-athletes to develop integrity through personal and professional challenges, and provide student-athletes with opportunities to become responsible representatives of Eastern Illinois University.
LEGACY FUNDMajor gifts are the fuel that drives EIU Athletics. The Legacy Fund exists to coordinate and administer major gifts over $10,000 to the athletics department. These gifts are graciously accepted and provide funding for several aspects of men’s and women’s programs from endowing student-athlete scholarships to helping fund much needed facility improvements.

PANTHER CLUB MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
Thank you for your support in 2011! Your contributions helped us to reach new heights and support our more than 400 student-athletes!
We are looking forward to an exciting 2012-13 and I am confident with your continued support we will break all fundraising efforts! Most notably for 2012, we are celebrating a NEW ERA in Panther Football and Men’s Basketball, under the direction of new head coaches Dino Babers and Jay Spoonhour. Coach Babers will kick off his first season as EIU Head Football Coach on Thursday, August 30, 2012 vs. Southern Illinois at 6:30 pm.
Your Panther Club contribution is critical to our continued success and your support allows us to continue funding scholarships for our 21 sport NCAA Division I program.
IT’S A NEW ERA, help us celebrate by joining the Panther Club today!
WAYS TO GIVEANNUAL CASH DONATIONSCash, check, and credit card transactions (AMEX, Visa, MasterCard or Discover) are the most common forms of annual support. These gifts allow the athletics department to allocate money to the area of greatest need. Cash memberships at or above the Coaches Club level may designate their contribution to the sport of their choice, with the first $500 going towards the LAIR FUND. 20% of team-specific donations will remain in the LAIR FUND to benefit all EIU student-athletes.
GIFTS-IN-KINDContributions of goods and services are often provided in support of the athletics department. Gift-in-kind donations are receipted by the Eastern Illinois University Foundation on a yearly basis.
MATCHING GIFTSMany companies match employee contributions. Panther Club credit is given for your personal donation and the company’s matching gift.
GIFTS OF INVESTMENTAppreciated securities, real estate or tangible personal assets are accepted by the Panther Club and the Eastern Illinois University Foundation.
ENDOWED GIFTSEndowments offer a donor the opportunity to sustain afamily name in perpetuity. A new scholarship or endowment can be created with a minimum gift of $20,000.
OTHER FORMS OF GIVINGThe EIU Athletics Department accepts planned gifts through wills, bequests, charitable trusts or gift annuities.
For more information on planned giving, please contact Ryan Hastings at 217.581.5726.
Gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by IRS guidelines. Please consult your tax advisor concerning the deductibility of your contributions to the Panther Club.
