RECYCLED SARI BUNTINGOur sari stationery range sells so well we are always left with lots of gorgeous sari offcuts and we’ve never really known what to do with them – until now. One of our producers suggested making recycled sari bunting and now we employ more women from the village exclusively to make our colourful new bunting.
It means that we can help two more families in the area and avoid waste. Everyone wins! Due to the nature of these products colours may vary but loveliness comes as standard.

Our indra leather journals are rich and dark in colour and ooze personality. No two journals are the same. These journals are available in four sizes (including a statement A4 piece) and a notebook. All are hand embossed by our skilled artisans and filled with acid free handmade recycled cotton paper. This striking range offers a choice of brass clasp closure, stitched trim or traditional wraparound string with a semi-precious stone finish.
Our embossed Indra journals come with a brass clasp and are also available with a stitched trim. We have also developed our popular semi-precious stone range in the same designs but fastened with a traditional wraparound leather string. Just had to let you know how glad I am that I bought your handmade leather bound (cotton paper) journal rather than a simple paper product. My beautiful journal has been used to record my holiday thoughts and was nearly half full when a bottle of water in my bag burst and drenched it. I imagined having to peel apart each page as it dried to save my treasured words as you would for normal paper, but no, it just dried like cloth and, apart from smudges from a gel pen entry, it has dried out well enough to continue using. It’s a little crinkled, but I think it looks all the more intrepid.

All our colourful giftwrap is handmade by Get Paper Industries (GPI), an incredible, socially aware cooperative in Nepal. GPI has won many awards for the charity work it does in the local area, from supporting people affected by HIV and AIDS to establishing schools to support the education of underprivileged children. Milan, a founder member, is a man with an amazing passion for life, and he and his team are making a big difference, as we have seen with our own eyes. The beautiful paper is handmade from Lokta, a shrub that grows in the foot hills of the Himalayas at altitudes in excess of 6500ft and is abundant in supply. Each sheet measures approx. 75 x 50 cm.

These mango wood products are hand-carved by WFTO accredited producers in India. They are made entirely by hand using traditional skills handed down from generation to generation. Mango trees have an extremely long life but eventually do stop bearing fruit and are replaced by younger trees. As India produces, by far, the most mangos in the world this results in a massive industry using one of the most sustainable woods known to man.

They are all made of recycled materials and have a high quality finish. meet yeshoda, one of our lovely dedicated producers in Kathmandu, Nepal. We source our felt products from one of the front runners in Fairly Traded felt making in Nepal. We are very happy to be working closely with this company and feel that these products present excellent value for money whilst being extremely well made. Felt is a fine fabric which is made through the entanglement of fibres by applying heat, moisture and pressure on wool. The felt is made from 100% wool and has no artificial colours or dyes. Our new gorgeous felt and silk scarves are handcrafted by our producers in Kathmandu, one of the leading Fair Trade felt companies in Nepal. Recycled silk is overlain with brushstrokes of felt to create rich textures and colours and a luxurious feel. The scarves are both warm and lightweight.

We are pleased to introduce our new range of cotton scarves, handmade by our newest producers, Sadhna in India. Sadhna is committed to improving the lives of women in rural Udaipur by training them in handicraft skills and providing employment. The scarves come in two different appliqué styles, each in a choice of five colours, and are all beautifully hand embroidered by women employed by Sadhna.

the barefoot college (tilonia)Our rugs and bell totas are handmade by the Barefoot college, an inspirational non-government
organisation making a great difference to communities in Rajasthan, india.
since 1972 the Barefoot college has been providing basic services and solutions to problems
in rural communities, with the objective of making them self-sufficient and sustainable. These
‘Barefoot solutions’ can be broadly categorised into solar energy, water, education, health care, rural
handicrafts, people’s action, communication, women’s empowerment and wasteland development.
We have seen for ourselves the incredible work the college is doing and are truly inspired by it.
The products themselves are made from rags left over from the garment industry.

producers in Nepal. it is a Fair Trade
company which provides training
and work for women within some
of the poorest communities in
Nepal - to date the company has
empowered more than 100 women.
it is also committed to conservation
through its choice of raw materials
and, for example, by using solar
energy to help run its operations.
all the products are handmade from
wool using only natural colours and
dyes and created using traditional
methods. instead of weaving the
wool, felt is created by applying
heat, moisture and pressure to the
wool to entangle the fibres and
create a beautiful end result.
ACP
The association for craft producers
(acp) are based in the Kathmandu
valley in Nepal and are a not-for-
profit, Fair Trade organisation and
WFTO member providing design,
marketing, management, and
technical services to low-income
Nepalese craft producers.
acp are inspirational in their mission
to support the local crafts people
and bring their work to a global
market in exchange for fair wages
and benefits. The shared expertise
of acp means that they can blend
traditional craft with modern design
and work in partnership with us to
create beautiful products exclusively
for paper high.
acp are committed not only to Fair
Trade but the environment too; for
example, its Kathmandu workshops
and offices have installed a waste
water treatment plant and have a
rainwater harvesting system. We are
really excited to be working with
acp and are looking forward to a
long and fruitful relationship.
NOAH’S ARK
We came across Noah’s ark in 2009
and have enjoyed working with
them since. They are a fantastic
Fair Trade organisation and work
with some very talented producer
groups. Their products are incredibly
well made and the founder, samuel,
is an inspirational man.
Noah’s ark’s mission is to commit
themselves and the producer
groups they work with to Fair Trade
principles with the goal of changing
the lives of grass root artisans. Their
focus on education and capacity
building enables the people they
support to become more aware
of fair working conditions and the
environment in order to prove the
value, cultural heritage and beauty
of their hand made products. The
longer term effect is that they are
working collectively towards poverty
eradication.
Noah’s ark are members of the
WFTO and Fair Trade Forum
india. They work with around 49
different artisan groups, involving
approximately 500 artisans.
TARA
TaRa (Trade alternative Reform
action) projects are another
WFTO and Fair Trade Forum india
organisation that we have wanted
to work with for a long time. We
are really pleased that we have now
the opportunity to work with such
dedicated people.
TaRa projects began in the early
1970’s with the object of creating
opportunities and support for
economically disadvantaged home
based artisans and crafts people of
Delhi and its surrounding areas. Over
the years the project has extended its
work into the adjoining states of Uttar
pradesh, haryana and Rajasthan.
TaRa projects provides services to
enable the production and marketing
of handicrafts following Fair Trade
principles, alongside providing
education and support to empower
the grass roots crafts people. at the
heart of TaRa projects’ work is a
dedication for eradicating poverty
by fighting against the exploitation
and illiteracy of the producers and its
working communities.
SARI AND LEATHER
all the products in this range are
made by a small family business
in Rajasthan who we have worked
with for many years following Fair
Trade guidelines. We visit every year
and we now know the producers
and their families well and consider
them true friends. We are proud
that together we are able to provide
people in rural villages fairly paid
work that would have otherwise
been difficult to find.
The khadda paper used in the
products is handmade using
recycled cotton leftover from the
massive garment industry in india.
The beautiful sari material is
handmade using man-made fibres
because we are uncomfortable with
the traditional methods used to
make silk.
MAXIMUS
Made by skilled and creative artisans
using elephant dung paper from
the Maximus Elephant conservation
Trust, our Elephant dung products
are the ultimate in recycling. Made
with 75% dung and 25% recycled
paper the elephants are in charge of
the pulping process of paper as they
digest their food!
Maximus has its workshop in the
grounds of the Millennium Elephant
Foundation (MEF), a wonderful
small charity that cares for sick,
old and disabled elephants. The
foundation is also working hard
to resolve the conflict between
elephants and local communities,
a critical concern as the elephants’
natural habitat decreases and
they turn to eating farmers’
crops. Working with initiatives like
Maximus, they are able to show
the positive relationship local
economies can have with these
amazing animals - they pay villagers
to collect the elephant dung used
to make the paper. These products
help the foundation continue its
incredible work.
SADHNA
We started working with sadhna in
2012 to produce our beautiful cotton
scarves.
sadhna are a fantastic WFTO
accredited organization in Udaipur,
india. They were founded in 1988
and have been widely recognised
for their great work in providing
opportunities for women in
Udaipur’s rural, tribal and urban
slum belts.
sadhna taught these disadvantaged
women patchwork, appliqué and
tanka embroidery skills to enable
them to earn a secure living. starting
with 15 women, it now prides itself in
helping 700 women become skilled
artisans and give them the respect
within society they deserve.
GET PAPER INDUSTRIES
all our colourful giftwrap is
handmade by Get paper industries
(Gpi), an incredible, socially aware
cooperative in Nepal.
WFTO members Gpi has won many
awards for the charity work it does
in the local area, from supporting
people affected by hiV and aiDs to
establishing schools to support the
education of underprivileged children.
Milan, the founder member, is a man
with an amazing passion for life, and
he and his team are making a big
difference.
The beautiful paper they use is
handmade from lokta, a shrub
that grows in the foot hills of the
himalayas at altitudes in excess of
6500ft and is abundant in supply.
harvesting this sustainable plant
helps preserve the fragile ecosystem
in Nepal and gives regular fairly paid
work to the people of the many
mountain villages. We are over the
moon to sponsor 6 children at one of
Gpi’s schools.
