Children are the Seeds of Change
At the mouth of the Amazon in northern Brazil, PaperSeed helped a small town’s youngest residents begin their education by supporting a preschool and playground.
The PaperSeed Foundation believes
that strengthening education is the best
way to break the cycle of poverty for chil-
dren and their families.
Children born to mothers with even a basic education are twice
as likely to live past the age of five. And each year of additional
schooling dramatically increases a child’s earning potential.
Unfortunately, for too many children
around the world, a good education is
hard to obtain. At PaperSeed, we’re
working to provide disadvantaged chil-
dren with better opportunities to get a
good education. We specialize in using
small amounts of money to create long-
term positive change through education.
We seek out projects that do more than improve
communities – we want to transform them.
By working with community leaders,
local non-governmental organizations
and government agencies, PaperSeed
finds opportunities to make dramatic
and lasting impact. Our projects vary,
based on particular communities’ needs,
but often include essential teacher train-
ing, school construction, and creation of
computer centers and libraries. We also
provide instruments for music programs
and construct safe playgrounds.
PaperSeed has undeniably humble roots.
The volunteer-led organization operated
on a shoestring budget for its first 10
years, but still affected extraordinary
PaperSeed has established numerous playgrounds, music rooms, sports facilities, libraries and computer centers for some of the region’s neediest children across the Western Highlands of Guatemala.
change in numerous communities. Today,
the Foundation is gaining strength and
momentum from a broad range of sources.
As PaperSeed enters an exciting new
expansion phase, led by a full-time, cor-
porate social responsibility professional,
we are setting ambitious goals with global
reach, and we invite you to join us.
Please help us realize the single, simple
goal of PaperSeed founders Michel
Robert (an executive in CellMark’s Paper
Division), and his wife, Lelen Robert: to
improve the lives of children.
“ We must prepare children for the future, while
providing them with numerous opportunities for
love, joy and laughter.” – Michel Robert
In a little town outside Lima, Peru, 52 students were packed into an overcrowded, run-down, two-classroom structure that was increasingly vulnerable to weather. PaperSeed helped build a two-story building, complete with modern facilities, which easily accommodates all of the town’s elementary and middle school students.
Our Mission PaperSeed is dedicated to
strengthening educational opportunities
for children and young people in under-
served and resource-lacking communities
around the world.
CellMark provides financial support
for all Foundation administrative and
operating expenses. As such, one hun-
dred percent of donations directly benefit
educational projects.
