A QUILTER IS:Submitted by Carol O’Rear

Someone who is bored silly hearing about other people'sdumb hobbies, such as sky-diving, motorcycling, or stampcollecting, but constantly fascinates everyone she comes

contact with by sharing her quilt and quilting experiences

Someone who cannot see cobwebs hanging from the ceilindustballs under the bed, or a sinkful of dirty dishes, but

can thread a size 10 needle in the dark.

Someone who sees life through the eye of a needle, and

that is a very special thing.

Someone who assiduously clips coupons and hunts for bar

gains at the super market, but buys untold yards of fabr

regardless of price.

Someone who enjoys sewing a quilt, but hides her mendin

until the garments are either outgrown or out of style.

Fundraising Report by Sue Royur fundraising has gone well at Oktoberfest and McCordaft Festival. I want to thank Judy Wohletz, Ruth Zach-

y, Roberta Lee, Betty Schwanke, Martha Williams, Mary

ou Winter, Nancy Keathly, Marlene Williams, Patti How-

d, Carol Pemberton, & Elaine Hughes for your help sell-

g tickets at these events. Our sales were strong at theseents. I took tickets with me to the Kansas Quilters Or-

nization and came home with a fist full of cash. Please

remember that your tickets need to be turned in by the

ec. meeting. We will be drawing for the quilt at that time.Tickets for our "in house" quilt will be for sale at the

ov. meeting. We will draw for this quilt at our Jan. Re-

eat meeting.

Wedding GiftsSubmitted by Betty Schwanke

Our gifts were many: silver and gold,

A lamp, some bowls for soup.My mother’s gift was the simplest one,A quilt from her ladies’ group.

They met each week with their scraps and thread,

Their lunches, their jokes and dreams,And they stitched their love with the strong white lines,And their hopes in the neat side seams.

I look at the quilt, and I see Mom still,

Graying and shabby and thinBut a youthful spirit, a ready wit,And a strong heart glowed within.

She is long gone now, and yet at night(I know, you’ll say it’s wild),I use that quilt, and I feel...tucked in,

As when I was once a child.

WonderArc Workshop

Thirteen members attended the WonderArc workshop

with Mary Ellen Johnson. One side of the classroomconstructed their lessons with fabric and thread. The

other side of the classroom constructed their lessons

with paper and glue. Mary Ellen was kept busy with

keeping the two techniques on the right track. Thank you to all those that attended.
