LE VERBE ALLER
Le verbe aller est très important à la langue français!
Aller means « to go. »
La conjugaison d’aller est irrégulier.
Je vais Nous allons
Tu vas Vous allez
IlElle va Ils ,
Elles vonton
Le verbe aller et la destination.
When aller is the verb of the sentence, there must be a destination stated in the sentence.
Les exemples
Je vais en Louisiane pendant mes vacances.
(I am going to Louisiana during my vacation.)
Les élèves de français vont en France.
(The French students are going toFrance.)
Mes copains et moi, nous allons à la plage tout ensemble l’été.
(My friends and I, we are going to the beach together this summer.)
Pépé LePew va à la ville pour chercher des belles filles.
(Pepe Le Pew is going to the city to search for beautiful girls.)
Pas de destination?
If the sentence does not state a destination, then you must insert « y » into the sentence before the verb.
« Y » means « there ».

J’ y vais pendant mes vacances.
(replaces en Louisiane)
Les élèves de français y vont.
(replaces en France)
Mes copains et moi, nous y allons
tout ensemble l’été.
(replaces à la plage)
Pépé LePew y va pour chercher des belles
filles. (replaces à la ville)

Le futur proche
You can use the present tense of aller to make a future tense. It is the near future or le futur proche. I am going to learn
French. Je vais apprendre
français. Aller conjugated in first person, singular
The infinitive of to learn, apprendre.
On fait le futur proche.
To make the futur proche, you use the conjugated form of aller and add the infinitive form of the verb that is the action that will be performed.
Il va nager à la piscine.
Oh la la! Il va se noyer!
Les élèves de français vont passer leur examen.
The French students are
going to take
their exam.
In English we do the same thing. We use the conjugated form of to go and add the infinitive to express the near future.

(Are you going to return home after school today?)
