Paradip Port Surges Ahead
"PCS1X" Road-Show on Ease of Doing Business held at PPT
Paradip Port Trust, in the current financial year up to July, 2019,
has handled 38.09 Million Metric Tonnes, as compared to 35.68
Million Metric Tonnes of Cargo handled during the corresponding
period of the previous year and thereby, an increase of 6.75 %.
In the current financial year up to July, 2019, POL traffic has
exhibited a growth of 13.60% and Iron Ore traffic has exhibited a
growth of 194.71%. Paradip Port has retained its second highest
position in terms of Cargo handled amongst all the Major Ports till
the end of July, 2019.
The Port also handled 672 vessels up to July, 2019, as compared to
655 vessels during corresponding period in previous year.
Paradip Port Trust has handled 9.89 Million Metric Tonnes rail
borne traffic up to the end of July, 2019, as compared to 9.04
Million Metric Tonnes handled during the corresponding period of
the previous year, exhibiting a growth of 9.40%.
The Port has already taken a slew of measures which have ensured
improvement in productivity of ship day from 27,071 MT in
2018-19 to 25,866 MT for ship day in 2019-20 (up to July, 2019)
witnessing a growth of 4.66%.
Paradip Port Trust, in association with the Indian Ports' Association
(IPA), organised a Road-Show at Jaydev Sadan on 10th July, 2019
to create awareness about the 'Port Community System' (PCS).
"PCS1X" is a cloud-based single user-friendly interface platform,
which improves the ease of doing business and Maritime Trade.
Gracing the occasion as Guests of Honour, Shri Rajeev Puri, CAO,
IPA, Shri S.K. Das, MMD Surveyor, Paradip, Shri S.K. Sahu, FA &
CAO & Capt. A.K. Mohapatra, Dy. Conservator, PPT, stressed on
connecting all the Agencies related to the Maritime Sector on a
single platform. This will promote ease of doing business by
adopting world class trade facilitation practices, which will be
transparent and cost-effective proposition. It is a "game-changer"
for shipping operations, and is set to help reduce the high logistics
costs in the country.
The IPA representatives at the event said that all the trading bodies
across maritime sector would be able to come on board, as the
single platform connects all the stakeholders. Shri S.K. Mishra, TM,
PPT, presided over the programme and Shri A.K. Sahu, DTM,
co-ordinated the event. More than hundred fifty Steamer Agents,
CHAs, Transporters, Importers & Exporters, Stevedores, MMD and
other stakeholders participated in the Road Show.

The first State-of-the-Art 10 MLD (Million Litres per day)
De-salination Plant in Odisha will be commissioned at Paradip
Port. An MoU regarding consulting services was signed between
PPT & NIOT (National Institute of Ocean Technology, Chennai,
under Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India) on 15th July 2019.
The MoU was signed between Shri K Ramachandra Rao, Chief
Engineer, PPT & Shri MV Ramana Murthy, Projet Director, NIOT.
As per this, SWRO (Sea-water Reverse Osmosis) water will be
available in PPT Township. Floating of Tender is likely this year
2019. This project will supplement the drinking water during the
summer season in the Port Township. This first of its kind drinking
water venture in the state by PPT is a landmark Project. The capital
cost of the project is around Rs.116 Cr.
MoU signed for Odisha's first De-salination Plant at PPT
State-of-the-art Effluent Treatment Plant inaugurated at PPT Hospital
A State-of-the-art Effluent Treatment Plant was commissioned on
21st July, 2019 within the PPT Hospital premises. Shri Rinkesh
Roy, Chairman, PPT dedicated it to the PPT, service, in presence of
Smt. Subhalaxmi Roy, President, Paradip Ladies' Club, Shri
Ramesh Kumar Ekka, Regional Officer, State Pollution Control
Board, Govt of Odisha, Shri Basant Biswal, Chairman, Paradip
Municipality, HoDs, officers and employees of PPT. PPT Hospital
already has a state of the art solid waste disposal system. This liquid
waste disposal system, adds yet another feather to the cap of PPT
for its commitment towards prevention of pollution and bio-
hazard in and around Paradip. After treatment, the water will be
used in the garden of PPT Hospital. Thus, it will prevent ground
water from contamination.
The plant has a capacity of processing and treating 10 kilo litres of
waste water daily. Only a few such type of plants are there in
Odisha, it is learnt. It has been designed and installed by the
Richardson Cruddas Ltd, Chennai, a Govt of Tamilnadu
undertaking at a cost of Rs.32 lakh.
A state-of-the-art equipment, called Digital Radiovisiogram (RVG),
was also unveiled and added to the Dental Department on the
occasion. By this application, the images of tooth and pathology
can directly be seen on the computer screen; no need to take a
x-ray of tooth nor chemically process and look for the problem.
This will strengthen PPT Hospital by enhancing the infrastructure.
Blood Donation Camp organised by Paradip Ladies' ClubThe Paradip Ladies' Club for inculcating the spirit of social
activism among the denizens of Paradip organized a Blood
Donation Camp on 28th July, 2019 at its office premises. Gracing
the occasion as Chief Guest, Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT,
inaugurated the event. Guest of Honour Shri S D Bhanu, DIG,
Coast Guard, Paradip, Shri Basant Biswal, Chairman, Paradip
Municipality, Smt. Subhalaxmi Roy, President, Paradip Ladies'
Club, Smt. Kalpana Sahu, Secretary, Shri S.K. Sahu, FA & CAO,
Shri Bimal Kumar Jha, Secretary, PPT, Dr. P. Panda, CMO, PPT
Hospital, other HODs and ladies club members were also present.
Apart from officers and employees of Paradip, Members of Paradip
Banika Sangha, Students of Orissa Maritime Academy, NCC
Cadets from Paradip College & Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad, a
large number of volunteers from Paradip Sakshyarata Samiti, CISF
& Coast Guard Units of Paradip donated blood. Assisted by the
staff from Red Cross Wing, Jagatsinghpur, around 200 units of
blood were collected.
Van Mahotsav by CISF, PPTPursuant to the directives from CISF HQRs., New Delhi, Van
Mahotsav-2019 was organised at CISF Family Quarters Complex,
Paradip Port, on 30th July, 2019. Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman,
PPT, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Shri Basant Biswal,
Chairman, Paradip Municipality, was the Guest of Honour. The
Programme was also attended by officials and employees of CISF
& PPT. Under the guidance of Shri Madhabananda Biswal,
Commandant, CISF Unit, PPT, around 160 CISF personnel,
including their family members, planted various fruit bearing
saplings. This initiative will indeed go a long way in enriching the
local environment.
PPT continued its campaign for cleaning of Paradip town, as Traffic
Deptt. of Paradip Port Trust carried out cleaning operation under
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Nuabazar area on 20th July, 2019 .
The message - "Our Cleanliness is the beauty of Mother India" was
spread out. The Officers and Employees of the Department
cleaned the surroundings, removed the roadside garbage, weeds,
debris, etc.
PPT has made a year-long Schedule to undertake cleanliness in
and around Paradip area on 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month,
by each Department.
