We will cover two Torah Portions this week tobe in sync back in with the Torah Cycle as aresult of Passover we celebrated last week.

Leading up to Passover we have discussedLeprosy in the House and what that meant forthe Bride to prepare herself as she will enterinto the House of YHVH, leaving Egypt behind. Her Leprous state is as a result of Her fallennature that came into this world as a result of

Adam and Eve’s sin. Last week we discussedthe Threshold Covenant and the MarriageContract YHVH made with His Bride as symbolised in the Passover Feast andthe Four Cups of Promise She partook in indicating the phases or steps YHVHpromise to take Her through.

The First Cup was about Her leaving slavery, coming out under the authority ofSatan. The Second Cup had to do with the Shield, the Sacrificial System andthe Blood of Messiah, covering Her “leprous state” so that She can enter theHouse. This week’s Parashah will be about the Third Cup, the preparation ofthe Bride and the things She will learn and go through to make Her Holy and

acceptable to come before the King. We will look at the process called Holinessthat prepares Her to live in the House of YHVH, what the definition of Holinessis and what it means to us today.

We will start off with the first topic in this Parashah, and that is looking at theFeast called Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement. This topic aligns with ourPassover season, and we are going to study Yom Kippur from within thePassover theme to see how they connect and complement each other.

Day of Atonement and Passover ConnectionThe Feasts of YHVH are all connected asseen through placing them on the MenorahPattern. Each Branch is connected to theopposite Branch; this connects Passover withSukkot. This is the start of the Restorationprocess where we enter into a MarriageCovenant with YHVH so that we canTabernacle or live with Him Forever.

The next connection is made where

Unleavened Bread connects with YomKippur, the Day of Atonement that has to dowith removing sin from your house and takingaway of sin from the nation. It is alsosymbolic of Judgement Day where sinners, who are still saturated with sin at the end, willbe removed with their sin from the Presenceof YHVH.

First Fruits is all about the resurrection ofMessiah and the celebration of the first fruits or harvest that will be raised with

Him into life when we see Him on the Day when the Trumpet sounds, announcing the arrival of the King that will collect His Bride (1st Resurrection &Rapture) and carry Her over the Threshold into His Father’s House.

Lastly, there is Shavuot, the Feast that stands on its own but represents theMain Branch of the Menorah that supports and upholds all the other Branches. This is the pinnacle of the Work of the Messiah and is all about the giving of HisTorah and the receiving of His Sprit as fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost. Weneed both the Word and the Spirit to be prepared and cleaned, changed andrestored as the Bride of Messiah. Without the Word and Spirit of YHVH, this willnot be possible to be transformed into a new Adam (man) ready to be reunitedwith YHVH in the new Garden of Eden or New Jerusalem.

Q – How is the Passover / Unleavened Bread connected with Yom Kippur?

There are many disputes especially when Christians try toconvince Jews that Jesus died for our sins, connecting Himto the Sin Offering. The first problem you encounter is thatthe sin offering required a female Lamb, Y’shua is male. This cause a major stumbling block for the Jews becauseY’shua cannot be the sin offering because of this fact. Theanswer to this question lies a bit deeper within the Hebrewlanguage, and you have to study and to understand all the

Festivals as well as all of the Sacrifices, to understand the Sacrifice of Y’shuaand why He died for us. John the Baptist made the following proclamation, andif you analyse it, you will find the answer.

John 1:29  The next day he saw Y’shua coming toward him, and said,“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

When you have an understanding of all the Sacrifices, you will have a problemwith John’s statement because the lamb or sin is offering only atone or coversin, it does not take sin away. John calls Y’shua the Lamb of YHVH (male) that

is referencing the Passover Lamb, not the sin Offering lamb (female). The only other (male) sin sacrifice found in Scripturethat takes sin away that deals with intentional sin, isthe sin sacrifice brought on the Day of Atonement orYom Kippur. The animals that were used for thisSacrifice were two identical male goats; one goatwas the sacrifice whose blood was taken into theTabernacle or Temple and sprinkled on the MercySeat of the Ark of the Covenant. The other goat wasthe Scapegoat that took the sin away.

Y’shua’s Sacrifice: These two identical goats were seen as one goat, onesacrifice, representing one Sin offering with two components that was fulfilled byY’shua when He died on Passover.

The Firs t Goat represented Y’shua’s Sin Sacrifice Who’s Blood was sprinkledupon the Ark of the Covenant, on the Mercy Seat in the presence of the Fatherwhen He died on Passover. This represents the “Shield” that “covers” man’sfallen state or nature. How did this happen? The Ark was hidden under the hillcalled Golgotha that was placed there by the Jews when the First Temple wasdestroyed by Nebuchadnezzar II after the Siege of Jerusalem of 587 BCE.Solomon built in sand hydraulics when he constructed the Temple to hide the Ark of the Covenant whenever there was a siege and taken through tunnels tothe place called Golgotha, where it waited for just over 600 years for the bloodSacrifice of Messiah Y’shua to fall through the rock after the earthquake, ontothe Mercy Seat from the place where He was crucified. This is the Sanctificationwork through the Blood of Messiah, setting us apart and made us Holy unto Himthrough the Covering of His Blood. [For more detail watch Michael Rood’s DVD’s on Solomon’s Temple, as well as the Videos on “The Blood of Jesus, Found on the Ark

of the Covenant” by Ron Wyatt at http://www.project.nsearch.com/]

The Second Goat was the Azazel or Scapegoat that was taken into thewilderness after the sins of the nation was transferred by the High Priest, layingon of hands on its head, and then taken away to be pushed off a cliff,

symbolising the taking away of the sins of the nation. This is the second partY’shua fulfilled where “sin is removed” or where He dealt with the“consequences of sin”, namely death. This connects to the Second Death foundin Rev 20:14. Y’shua was the Scapegoat Who took all the sin of everyone whoever lived as well as those not born yet, from the beginning to the end of time, taking upon Himself the death penalty or consequence of all of these sins, carrying “sin and death away from us”. This is what Paul meant when he said inCol 2:14 “…having cancelled out the certificate of debt  consisting ofdecrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out ofthe way, having nailed it to the cross…” This process is called the Justificationand Redemption work of the Blood of Messiah where He paid the death penalty, putting us in right standing with YHVH.

Marriage Night:  Passover and Unleavened Bread Symbolismdescribes the Engagement Ceremony that takes Place with Yom Kippursealing that Ceremony at the Second Coming with the Blood on theMercy Seat inside the Holy of Holies, just like the blood on the sheet ofthe first Marriage night sealing the Covenant between Bride and Groom.

This Ceremony will be sealed after the Second Coming of Messiah where wewill be physically carried over the Threshold (Kidron Valley) into the Father’sHouse (Feast of Trumpets / Rapture after the Tribulation) and right after that theBride will be in place of intimacy as symbolised by Yom Kippur where the Bloodof the Marriage Covenant on the “sheet” is represented by the Blood on theMercy Seat after Yom Kippur.

After that we will celebrate the Feast of Sukkot or Tabernacles where we willlive with YHVH forever in the New Garden of Eden called the New Heaven andthe New Earth in the New Jerusalem. All the Festivals tells the same story andgives us all the detail from different angles revealing the Work of the Messiahrestoring us back to YHVH into a Marriage Relationship with Him.

Day of Atonement and Sexual Guidelines Connection

This Torah Portion starts with mentioning the death of Aaron’s two sons, then it covers the Commandment of theDay of Atonement or Yom Kippur and after that talks aboutsexual immorality.

Q – How is it that YHVH talks about the Day of Atonement inrelation with sexual immorality?

YHVH gives Commandments regarding sex and intimacy

because Yom Kippur describes man coming physically intointimacy with the Almighty and this is similar to a man and a

woman coming into physical intimacy with each other after Marriage. Thisconfirms our previous discussion on the blood on the sheet that is the sign ofthe Covenant between man and his wife and the blood on the Mercy Seatrepresents the sign of the Covenant between Messiah and His Bride.

YHVH gave specific Commandments regarding the Day of Atonement, and ifdone differently to what He commanded, the person conducting this ceremonywill die, just like Nahab and Abednego. In the same way, YHVH gave specificCommandments regarding marriage, morality and sexual intimacy, and if done

contrary to what He Commanded, resulted in death.Spiritual Application: What we learn from this is that YHVH gave Marriage asa beautiful commitment between man and woman and that the “first love”should be preserved and kept pure. If we engage in any of these immoralsexual sins in this Torah Portion, we will destroy that beautiful relationship. These Commandments are given to protect us within the Marriage Covenant.

Shield of Blood & Shield of the Word: We discussed at Passover that Y’shuais our Shield Who protects His Bride during Her fallen leprous state until she isfully restored and ready to be reunited with the Father after His Second Coming. The Messiah is the Shield from His Blood’s point of view, covering our sin and

from the Word’s point of view, that protects us by giving us “safe boundaries” towalk in so that we will not compromise the Restoration work He is doing withinus.

Standing back, looking at the Torah Cycle and the Feast Cycle and how theyoverlay and complement each other, confirms the Marriage Covenant that tookplace on Passover, that connects to the “Blood of Intimacy” at Yom Kippur ofthe “First Marriage Night”, confirming the complete restoration process with inthe symbolism of a Marriage Covenant.

    Definition of Holiness

Lev 20:7   Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am YHVH your Elohim.

YHVH Commands us to be Holy as He is Holy.

Q – What is the definition of Holiness and what doesHoliness mean to you?

Kadoshsdq is the Hebrew word that is translated as “apartness, holiness, sacredness, separateness”. It is first used in Scripture in Exo 3:5 where Mosesmet YHVH in the burning Thorn Bush and YHVH told him to take off his shoes

because it is Holy ground. It comes from the root word “kadash” sdq thatmeans “to consecrate, sanctify, prepare, dedicate, be hallowed, be holy, besanctified, be separate” and is first used in Gen 2:3 where YHVH blessed theSabbath Day and sanctified it.

Spiritual Application: Holiness is the state you have to be in in order to comeinto the presence of YHVH, just like Moses when he encountered YHVH in theThorn Bush on Mount Sinai. Bush is the word “senah” and was burning in the

fire that did not consume it. Fire is represented by the letter Shin s and Shinalso represents the Spirit of YHVH.

YHVH told Moses to take off his shoes and “shoes”represent your “walk” or “halechah”, the way you conductyourself, implying a state of Holiness. YHVH wanted Mosesto change “his walk” in order to become “set apart”. Holinesscannot be achieved without modification and changing tothe precepts of YHVH’s Word. This is exactly what Holiness

is; “changing  your walk” or “halachah” to conform to theWays of YHVH as revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai, thatis His Torah or Commandments with the help of His Spirit(Fire/Light).

Just like YHVH sanctified the Sabbath after His Creation Work so will you besanctified after He completed the “Creation Work” within you so that you canbecome like Him, created in His Image and Likeness, not just His Image. ThisCreation Work is known as Holiness and describes the process you will gothrough in order to become Holy like YHVH.

    The Three Areas of Holiness

We find the Commandment to be Holy three places in the Book of Leviticusand these passages will reveal something of that Holiness Process that

we need to go through to become like our Father. These three versesgive us the three areas we have to address to become Holy like

YHVH. These three areas also reveal something about YHVH, whatHe stands for, Who He is and How He conducts Himself.

Lev 11:44  For I am YHVH your Elohim. You shall, therefore, consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. Neither

shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on theearth.

Lev 19:2  “Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, andsay to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I YHVH your Elohim am  holy.

Lev 20:7   Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am YHVH

    your Elohim.

Holy Food - The first verse in Lev 11 YHVH Commanded usto be Holy is about Dietary Laws defining what food is. YHVHcares what we eat and this is the first step in being set apartunto Him and was the first area humans failed in, causingthem to lose their initial Holy State. This happened when Adam and Eve ate what was not Commanded. This act ofHoliness helps you to overcome the flesh.

Holy Acts or Deeds - The second verse in Lev 19 YHVHCommands us to be Holy and is about communal laws, how

to live differently among people. The Commandments startswith honouring your parents and keeping the Sabbath andthen covers the rest of the Ten Commandments in a practicalway. This act of Holiness helps you to live in love and unitywith fellow humans. It covers your relationship with YHVHhonouring Him as your Father and submitting under His HolyDay where He teaches you how to honour and respectgeneral relationships with other people.

Holy Relationships - The third place in Lev 20 where YHVHCommanded us to be Holy is found in this week’s Torah

Portion where it stipulates guidelines regarding moral andsexual purity. This act of Holiness helps us to restorecovenant relationships; the relationship between a man andhis wife as well as restoring an Intimate Relationship withYHVH.

    Holiness, Faith and Grace

1 Pet 1 :13-14  Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, besober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to bebrought to you at the revelation of Y’shua the Messiah;  14 asobedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former

lusts, as in your ignorance;  15 but as He who calledyou is Holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,  16 because itis written, “Be Holy, for I am H oly.”

Peter explains Holiness in the context of Faith (hope) and Grace, which are the two things most people believe, release them from the Law orCommandments. People are taught that “…we are not under the Law but underGrace…” quoting Rom 6:14. Let’s look at this verse and find out what Paul wason about. To get the true meaning of this quote you should read from verse 12to get the real understanding of what Paul was trying to explain here.

Rom 6:12-16  Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that

you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members(bodies) as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselvesto God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments ofrighteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for youare not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin becausewe are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not knowthat to whom you present yourselves, slaves, to obey, you are that one’sslaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death or ofobedience leading to righteousness?

The context of verse 14 is; not to allow sin into your life and submit under the

“law of the flesh”, but rather present your members or flesh as instruments ofRighteousness. In Hebrew, there are many different words that can betranslated as law but there is only one Greek word that is translated as “law”,and that is the word “nomos”.

Q - When Paul uses “nomos”, which law is he talking about?

Paul uses “nomos” to explain three different laws found in Romans Chapters 6through to 9, and you have to read the context to find out which law he isreferring to. The three laws are; the Law of YHVH, that is better known as theLaw of the Spirit or the Torah. The law of the fathers that is better known asman-made laws or “Traditions of  the Elders” and thirdly, the law of the flesh that

is the law he is talking about here in Romans 6:14.The flesh dictates to us what we should and should not do based on the desiresof the flesh. Paul strongly speaks against submitting under this law and statesthat we are no longer under the “law” (of the flesh) but under grace, meaningthat YHVH’s Grace extended to us through His Spirit helps us not to be subjectto the “law of the flesh” but be led by the Spirit or the “Law of the Spirit” in ordernot to sin. The “Law of the Spirit” includes the Torah and His Commandmentsthat are the “safe boundaries” His Holy Spirt” is leading us within, to help us tobecome Holy like Him. (Link found in the fulfilment of the Fest of Shavuot or“Pentecost”, Spirit = Commandments, writing His Torah on our hearts.) This is

the same message Peter is talking about, being Holy as YHVH is Holy meansnot to submit under the Flesh but under His Commandments to be Holy asdefined by the Torah gave to Moses at Mt Sinai.

Under the Head: To be under Grace has to do with being under HisShield as promised to Abraham. That means to be under the Messiah, and His rulership, because He is the Head of the Body.

Under the Blood: Secondly, to be under Grace means to be under theShield of His Blood, not receiving the death penalty because He nailed it

to the “cross”.Under the Word: Thirdly, being under Grace means to be under the Shieldof His Wings referring to the “Tzit-tzits” in Ps 91, that symbolises HisCommandments, that is Messiah, the Word of YHVH. So if you are underGrace you are under His Authority, led by Him through His Spirit, you areunder His Blood, protecting you because of your fallen nature, avoiding the

death penalty and submitting under His Word and His Commandments thatprotects you and help you to be Holy as He is Holy.

Examples of what Holiness is not…

We saw in the three verses in Leviticus YHVH Commanded us to be Holy as Heis Holy. We can never be exactly like Him and Holy like Him.

Q – How can He expect us to do something that is impossible?

We are going to look at a few examples in Scripture that will answer thisquestion so that we can understand what YHVH expects of us regardingHoliness. We will first look at what Holiness is not.

Holiness is not a Religion. Religion is a man-madesystem that captures a form of service and worshipunto YHVH, that is made up of traditions to create

uniformity within Religious Group of people.Holiness is not a spiritual barometer  where you can measure your

spiritual state compared to a fellow Believer. Some believe they areholier than others and that example is found in Scripture referring tothe Pharisees. If you think like this, you have pride in your life. Nevercompare yourself to anyone regarding your faith and relationship with

YHVH. This can only be measured against the Word and the fruits youbear regarding your words and your works (actions).

Holiness does not mean that you becomeuntouchable. Y’shua was the most Holy Person that

ever walked this Earth, and He engaged with people and even allow them to sitnext to Him and touch Him. Y’shua even went to mix with sinners to speak intotheir lives, bringing them into the Kingdom.

Holiness does not mean that you need to isolate yourself. Some belief to isolate themselves from other people in order topray and do “spiritual things “, not to be defiled by the world. Youare worthless if you are not relevant and living your faith out in apractical way amongst people in this world. YHVH told us to be alight in this dark World and not to hide the Light under a bucket.Go out there and shine His light by expressing the Truth of His

Word through your life in Holiness, touching other people.

    Examples of what Holiness is…

Luke 5:1-4  So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear theword of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret,  2 and saw twoboats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them andwere washing their nets.  3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was

Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat downand taught the multitudes from the boat.  4 When He had stoppedspeaking, He said to Simon, “  Launch out into the deep and let down yournets for a catch.”

We see the first meaning of what Holiness isthrough the picture of Y’shua and Simon standingin a boat preaching to the crowds. The boatrepresents your “set apartness” or Holiness, whereyou are in this world but not part of this world. Youcan reach people but are not in the crowd beinglike them. If you look, act, talk like the world, thenyou will not stand out to be a light in this darkworld. You can only be relevant and used byYHVH for His Work if you “set yourself a safe

distance away” (be Holy) from people in the world, but still be close enough sothat they can see and experience your fruits and be able to speak into theirlives. You need to be separate but relevant to minister to people.

The second example of Holiness is found inverse 4 where Y’shua Simon to go furtheraway and cast the nets into the deep. This is a

picture Holiness in the form of Evangelism. Toreach people who are in the “darkness of thedeep”, you need to go where they are andcast your nets in order to be a light to them. As seen in this example, you still do it from asafe distance from within the boat, notbecoming like the “people of the deep”.

These example shows us the most effective way to reach people; to cast outnets. This is here you are among people, living a normal life and wait untilsomeone “swim into your net”. Then you have the chance to bring that person

from the “dark of the deep”, into the safety of the boat, into YHVH’s Kingdom. There are two other ways to fish; the first way is wherethere are professional fisherman using expensivefishing gear with nice bait on the line, (something thepeople want) and allure people into the Kingdom. Thistechnique is used by most “Seeker sensitive Churches”today, making Church enjoyable and preachmotivational messages that tickle the ear (prosperitydoctrine). The problem with this is that they never

preach about sin and Holiness and people just focus on love and grace.

You must accept YHVH for the right reasons and serve Him with the rightmotive, not seeing what you can get out of the deal, but see how you can makea difference in this world by being a light (be Holy).

      10

Others use a “harpoon” approach where they preachabout death and hell in the form of “turn of burn”messages, scaring people into the Kingdom. Theproblem with this is that you tend to catch “dead fish”with this method and we should be led by the spirit offear into the Kingdom. This is also not the right wayand example Y’shua showed us in Luke because ithas nothing to do with Holiness, bringing people in thewrong way. These people normally don’t last, or theybecome like the people who discipled them, using the same fear tactics.

    Holiness and the Marriage Covenant

Kidoshim is the term that is used to describe when a man asks a woman tomarry him. He has to “purchase” her and as a sign will give her an engagementring. When you see the ring on her finger, you know she is being spoken for andbelongs to someone else. This makes her “set apart” for that person who gaveher a ring and is no longer available to the “dating pool”.

Eph 1:13-14  In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you weresealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,  14 who is the guarantee of ourinheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the

     praise of His glory.

The language used in Ephesians is referring to this Kidoshim state we are inuntil Messiah comes the Second Time. He gave us His Spirit as an

Engagement Ring to seal our relationship until thesecond part of the Marriage is fulfilled after theFeast of Trumpets at His Second Coming. TheBride is waiting for Her Groom to complete ahouse for her so that they can live together.

Until then, She has to prepare Herself and be in astate of Holiness, awaiting His Coming. This iswhat Y’shua taught when He mentioned the five

wise and five foolish virgins in Matt 25:1-13. Are you the Wise Virgin, having oilin your lamp, ready for meeting the Groom?
