Parent Advisory Board (PAB) Charter The PAB has an active voice and seat at the table in many areas of Olin’s activities. We provide advice and counsel to the College on many issues. Serve as the organizing body for Parent Organization (all Olin parents). Propose and oversee special initiatives in the best interests of Olin students on behalf of all parents. All parents of Olin students are automatically members of the Parent Organization, by having a student at Olin. There are no PAB dues, bake sales or car washes

Parent Advisory Board (PAB) Membership:
4 each sophomore / junior / senior /alumni parents. 2 first-year parents (to be selected soon). • Serve 2-year renewable terms; typically on two Committees.

Purpose: Provide support to Olin College for all forms of communication directed to parents of enrolled students, including the Parent Caller Program, the Parent Handbook, the Parent Facebook Group and Olin websites.

community.
• Develop relationship between Olin Parents and share stories and information about the Olin community.
Advise Olin staff on other communication efforts with parents as needed.

Purpose: To assist the Admissions office with recruitment of outstanding students by serving as hosts for parents during Candidates Weekends. Serve on Parent Panels to answer questions from parents. Provide an over-all positive learning experience for parents of recruits.

Ambassadors of the Olin Brand • Attend college fairs.
• Host and help with admission program around the country.
• Field e-mails and phone calls from prospective parents, etc.
Recruit and coordinate current parents to help with Candidates Weekends 2014: CW1: Feb 14-15; CW2: Feb 21-22 CW3: Feb 28-March 1.
Act as a resource to the Office of Admissions for projects as requested.

Purpose: To assist the Offices of Post Graduate Planning and Development in identifying potential employers, partners and collaborators to generate opportunities for students and alumni.

Ambassadors of the Olin Brand • Identify domestic and international leads for internships, jobs, fellowships,
SCOPE sponsors and other promising opportunities.
• Dispersion away from the northeast coast of United States.
• Under represented fields: energy, mechanical and electrical engineering, materials science, bioengineering, education, non-profits and other non-software fields.
Pass along leads for potential partners, investors and collaborators to the Development office.

Generate and capture leads through current and alumni parents’ employment data and personal and professional networks. Participate in professional organizations and social media, such as LinkedIn industry groups encouraging students, alumni and parents to connect and interact with potential employers, funders and collaborators. Recruit job success stories for PGP blog. Act as a resource to PGP for “Mock” interviews with students.

Purpose: Assist the Development office with planning and perform parent fundraising activities; help recruit & train additional parent volunteers as needed to assist with Development events and initiatives with a focus on maintaining the high level of parent support and increasing total dollars raised with an effort to fund top college priorities.

Communicate the importance of maintaining a high level of parent participation. Communicate the need to increase total dollars raised and encouraging support for top college priorities like “core support”. Annual Appeal gift solicitation letters for current and alumni parents. Parent Phonathon gift solicitation effort conducted by parents volunteer callers. Other support for the College’s Development efforts.

Purpose: Assist Olin College with planning and execution of Summer Parties, The Greater Boston Area Guide, and Family Weekend.

Coordinate Olin Family & Alumni Summer Parties to connect students and families with current and alumni students and their families in about 30 locations across the world! Update the Olin Boston Area Guide with current information and new attractions. Support College with Parent Orientation and Family Weekend.

Parent Advisory Board (PAB) Current Goals:
Support the DFAR in their Fiscal Year ‘14 strategic goals. Encourage parents to join a committee that interests them to help the Parent Organization meet our goals; not to mention that it's wonderful way to get to know other parents while supporting the Olin and our students. Continue to develop PAB resources and support to College. Recruit PAB members from current and alumni parent groups. Support Olin financially.
