HEADS OF SCHOOL

We welcomed back students to school on Monday and the week appears to have flown by, perhaps because so many exciting trips and activities have already taken place this half-term. Tuesday night saw the successful and well-received Halloween Disco, organised by Crestwood Community in Action (Crestwood PTA). On Thursday night Shakespeare Campus hosted the Post-16 Evening, providing students with careers information and guidance from a wide variety of employers, colleges and other organisations. Trips out this week saw students participate in the Hampshire Book Awards on Thursday and a select group of disadvantaged and vulnerable students were lucky enough to go ‘donuting’ at the Southampton Ski Centre on Friday. Crestwood Community in Action (CCIA) Halloween Disco Thanks to everyone who came and helped at the Halloween Disco on Tuesday evening. We raised £200.81! Special thanks to Sarah Vincent for the amazing cakes and to Mike Foulkes for providing sausages for the hotdogs. Thanks also to Alex Murray-Twinn, Donna Keeling and Katie and Jim Arnett for their help on the night. Plans are to hold a Christmas Disco also; we will keep parents posted on this.

CCIA Tuck Shop and Stationery Shop We will be running a tuck shop and stationery shop for students between 3.00-4.00pm on both campuses, commencing Monday 6th November. The idea is that students will be able to purchase snacks for homework club/after school club/enhancement and also any supplies they need. If anyone has links with any companies that may wish to donate items for our shops please let us know. All items will be priced reasonably.

Christkindlmarkt - Thursday 7th December

CCIA will be holding a Secret Santa Room where children can choose small gifts for their family members in secret and have them wrapped and tagged ready for gifting! Any donations of items and any offers of help would be most appreciated. We will also be holding a Christmas Tea Room, so any donations of cakes or offers of help would be most welcome.

Unwanted Gift Stall at Christkindlmarkt Have you ever been given a gift that is just not right for you?? Do you have a cupboard/drawer space full of unwanted gifts?? Are you struggling to re-gift?? If so... let your CCIA help you. Bring us all those gifts that for whatever reason just weren't right and we will find them a perfect owner at the Christkindlmarkt. It's a win win, you gain room in your cupboards, and we make some lovely little pennies for our CCIA. Please give any donations in at either Reception by Wednesday 6th December. Thanks in advance.

Christmas Raffle We will be holding a Christmas Raffle to win some amazing prizes. Any offers of prizes would be fantastic!

Next Meeting Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 15th November 2017 , at 7.00pm in the Library on the Cherbourg Campus.

If you can offer help with anything, please contact Justine Sayers on 02380 684970 or by email on [email protected]. If you would like a copy of the minutes of the first meeting, please also contact Justine.

Thanks for your support!

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn;

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,

We will remember them."

Design the new Christkindlmarkt logo The Technology Department are running a competition for a design of the new logo for the Christkindlmarkt (Christmas Market) poster/banner. We would like a logo that is designed by a student of the school, to feature on our new banners which will be displayed at the front and side of the school, to promote the Christkindlmarkt 2017. Please ensure your designs promote Christmas and the community. Good luck! (All entries to Mrs Davey, G4 or Miss Dewey, T4 by Wednesday 18th December) Hampshire Book award Ceremony Trip

LIBRARY HAMPSHIRE BOOK AWARD CEREMONY TRIP

Every year, Mrs Smith and Mrs Gray invite students in year 8* to be judges in this prestigious event. Earlier today, our esteemed judges, along with hundreds of other secondary school pupils, visited Winchester Guild Hall to see the winning author Helen Dennis receive her Hampshire Book Award 2017 for ‘River of Ink’ and were also treated to an amazingly exuberant presentation. We are extremely proud of the commitment and enthusiasm shown by all our students who took part in the entire process; you should all be very proud of yourselves! *This process started whilst students were in year 8 – they are now in year 9!

This is held in the library resource centres on each campus and staffed by teachers to support Year 11. Monday - Cherbourg Library - 4 - 7pm staffed by Mr Hollman (Maths) Tuesday - Cherbourg Library - 4 - 7pm staffed by Miss Harding (English). Wednesday - Shakespeare Library - 5 - 9pm staffed by Miss Baird (Maths). Thursday - Shakespeare Library - 5 - 9pm staffed by Miss Brennan (English). Mr Topazio also supports across both sites.
