December FamilySmart Meeting

Hello Everyone,

I hope this email finds you well.

Our December Meeting will be a gathering of parents where we will discuss ideas for keeping the

holidays as stress-free as possible. We will also have refreshments. I hope you can join us!

Strategies for helping the holidays go better - Thursday, December 5th

The Holiday Season is approaching and this can be one of the most stressful times for families.

FamilySmart believes that we are all experts in our own lives with our children, and when parents get

together to share their wisdom it can be helpful for everyone. Hearing another parent's approach to

handling a situation with their child might be something they want to try with our own family. That's

why our December meeting will be more casual giving us an opportunity to share stories and strategies

with one another.

Date & Time: Thursday, December 5th - 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm

Location: Saanich Neighbourhood Place

RSVP: [email protected]

Thank you

Public Service Announcement

Monthly Test of CFB Esquimalt’s Mass Notification System

November 27, 2019 – Esquimalt, B.C. – Department of National Defence / Royal Canadian Navy

The monthly test of CFB Esquimalt’s Mass Notification System will take place on December 4, 2019, at 11 a.m. for approximately one minute.

Residents may hear sirens and verbal messages from speakers mounted on tall poles in Dockyard, Naden and Work Point in Esquimalt. Due to a variety of environmental factors including temperature, humidity and wind direction it may be possible that the sirens will be heard in neighbouring municipalities.

Because CFB Esquimalt covers a large area, this system will be an invaluable tool during an emergency for communicating important information to base employees, contractors and those visiting our facilities.

During the monthly tests, two tones plus a message will be used - the ‘test tone’ (alternating tone), a message in English and French and the ‘all clear’ tone (similar to Westminster chime). Audio files are available on the Maritime Forces Pacific website.

Routine one-minute tests will take place on a monthly basis at 11 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month.
