PARADE OF LIGHTS INFORMATION SHEET Hello Light Parade participants! Thank you all for turning in your permission slips and signing up to ride on our float this year. We are excited for the parade on Thursday! Here is the information you will need for the event: 1) ALL STUDENTS WILL BE RIDING ON THE FLOAT. For safety reasons, we cannot have any kids walking. Parents will be walking alongside the float. Everyone walking needs to have something that lights up (glow sticks, light-up necklace or hat, etc.) Keep in mind it is a Christmas light parade so make it fun and school appropriate. Students need to have a Santa Hat and are encouraged to have something that lights up as well. We can always have more lights! 2) The students will be sitting on hay bales on a 30 ft trailer decorated with lights and other Christmas decor. Students are encouraged to bring blankets to wear over their laps to stay warm and to wear warm Christmas Pajamas if they have them. Students need to remain seated the entire duration of our time in the parade, as per the Kiwanis club Parade of Lights rules so we want to make sure they stay as warm as possible. 3) We will have strategically placed parent helpers on the float to monitor the students and make sure they are following the guidelines and staying safe. Please remind your student(s) that they are representing their school and should be respectful and follow directions. 4) We are #38 in the parade line-up. If you can't find us, just look for that number. We will have two "38" signs on the float- one in front and one in the back. Staging will take place on Sacramento Street, between Louie Ave and Forrest Ave. Participants should arrive at 5:30 PM to check in and be loaded onto the float. Once the parade begins, no one may get on or off until the float stops so please plan accordingly. You will be checking in with one of our committee members. Please make sure you check in before your child is loaded onto the float. Only students who turned in a permission slip will be allowed to participate in the parade. No permission slips will be available at staging. The parade route is available on the Kiwanis club parade website if you need it. Please respond with any questions you may have, and I will try to answer them promptly. Looking forward to the parade! Thank you again and see you Thursday! Whitney Ross (530) 903- 6237
