How do we use DRA2 with Daily 5 and CAFÉ?

Our initial use of the assessments are to find student strengths and greatest areas of need. The results, along with our Literacy CAFE Menu, are used to guide our instruction. We use the assessments throughout the year for progress monitoring and to show growth.

For our more at-risk kids, we assess more frequently.

• Look at the cover and talk about what you think will happen in this story.

• Look at the pictures and tell me what you think is happening in the story.

• We retell the story. Start at the beginning of the story and tell me what happened.

How long should my child practice reading his/her “good fit” books

each day?
