U.S.Soccer FederationUSSF is taking an active role in Youth Soccer. Both Jürgen Klinsmann, Jill Ellis and the national coaching staff are making changes for better player development nationally. Starting with 3 major initiatives.

2.Calendar AGE determination– Effective Fall 2016 - Spring 2017 Season
3.Small Sided Mandates– Effective Fall 2017 - Spring 2018 season

2. Calendar AGE, FAQsQ: What does this mean to our team? Will it change next year when we go from U11 to U12?A: YES. Players will attend year specific tryoutsQ: What about 8th graders born in 2002?A: There will be U15 offered in the Fall 2016. Even though most players will be U14.Q: Can we keep our team together if we want to?A: NO. DYSC is supporting the calendar age changes as is virtually every other Club. The one possible exception is for the 2002 8th graders and making teams be U15 so they can play.
DYSC SPRING 2016 PARENTS MEETING - MFD
2. Calendar AGE, FAQsQ: Can a player still ‘play up’?A: YES. But that player will be required to attend the appropriate age tryout. During that evaluation, if there is a recommendation to ‘play up’ that player can tryout for the higher age. However, any player chosen to play up must be evaluated to be among the best in the play up age.
DYSC supports ‘play up’ when it is the right environment for that player.

3. Small Sided Mandates• To advance player development, it is proven
that small sided games provide more ‘touches’ and confidence with the ball for every player.
• Smaller field size with less players, increases ball movement allowing each player to have more opportunities to influence the game.
• USSF used models of player development from other countries and created the following set of rules specifically for all U.S. Youth Soccer Organizations…
DYSC SPRING 2016 PARENTS MEETING - MFD
