About ENSCI – Les Ateliers: Established in 1982, the Higher
National School of Industrial Creation (ENSCI – Les Ateliers)
industrial design, as well as textile design. The ENSCI – Les
Ateliers ranked 2nd among European and American schools
and universities in the Red Dot Design Ranking 2016, in the
design concept category. The school is also a sponsor of
the RISING TALENTS AWARDS for MAISON&OBJET PARIS

for professionals who visit the fair in search of fresh talent. With
every new season, MAISON&OBJET PARIS announces another
selection of RISING TALENTS: international names in January,
French ones in September.
For the upcoming fair, held on 8-12 September 2017,
MAISON&OBJET PARIS is proud to announce its RISING

Claire Lavabre, a graduate of ENSCI – Les Ateliers (2012),
now a designer and photographer, already has an impressive
background. At just 30 years old, she has worked for designers
Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Inga Sempé, Leon Ransmeier
established her own studio to pursue he own interior and object
design projects. She is particularly fond of mirrors, lights and
frames – any object that can help her create optical illusions,
blurring images, melting them together or multiplying them to
question the notions of identity, duality and vanity. Her works
have been exhibited at the Villa Noailles for the Design Parade
and the Fashion and Photography festivals in 2013, at the Palais
de Tokyo in 2014 and at the Great Design Gallery in Paris. She
now works both from Paris and Perpignan, in Southern France.

Born in Toulouse in 1986, Alexandre Échasseriau has an unusual
background. After three years spent training in ornamental
turning and other metalworking techniques at L’École Boulle,
he then transitioned to industrial design at ENSCI – Les Ateliers,
time-honoured crafts and artisanal techniques, Alexandre
Échasseriau creates streamlined objects, combining materials,
technologies and little-known or emerging techniques. This
very personal approach earned him an Audi Talents Award
in 2014, in the design category. In September 2016, he
established CRAFTER STUDIO in suburban Paris. His work
takes him from industrial design, to prototyping and miniature
of activities. Until July 2017, he served as Art Director for the
Pompidou Centre’s FabLab.

Julien Phedyaeff cultivates a passion for craftsmanship and
in everything that surrounds industrial production. Both
graduates of ENSCI – Les Ateliers (2014), they share a common
perspective on consumption habits and patterns, which led
them to reimagine emblematic pieces from our daily lives as
their diploma projects: a streamlined design for a refrigerator
integrating food preservation solutions that required no electric
power in Christopher’s case; and a modular and repairable
washing machine for Julien. They teamed up in 2015 to establish
L’Increvable SAS, a home appliances business they created to
restore power to users. The company designs, manufactures
and markets sustainable, repairable and modular products.

Luce Couillet
© All rights reserved
Luce Couillet studied product design at ESAD de Reims, before
she decided to focus on textile design at ENSCI – Les Ateliers in
Paris, from which she graduated in 2010. Specialising in textile
materials and products, she established Matières Ouvertes, a
research workshop, in 2011, while she was in residence at Les
Ateliers de Paris after a stint working with Swiss brand Création
she handpicks both for their technical properties and aesthetic
qualities. Driven by her passion for innovation and low-tech
R&D, she uses artisanal weaving techniques to compose an
experimental material library, which she puts to the service
of various industries: couture, interior architecture, as well as
sporting and medical equipment. In 2012, her approach won
her the City of Paris’s Grand Prize for Creativity in the design
category. In 2017, she joined the Parisian showroom DINES, in
order to establish a textile laboratory for architects and interior
designers.

Lysandre Graebling has a very unique connection to fabrics,
as to fashion and design. After studying fashion, she then
specialised in textile design at ENSCI – Les Ateliers, where she
explored a number of techniques, including weaving, knitting,
embroidery and screen-printing. She graduated in textile design
in 2013. After working with Hermès in their home furnishing
fabrics department, Lysandre Graebling joined Sonia Rykiel,
where she spent two years creating and developing patterns
for their childrenswear lines. In 2015, she co-established Tohu-
Bohu, a textile design studio, with Lucile Bonnaud. For every
new season, they design a collection of patterns intended for
professionals of the fashion, interior and packaging industries.
Tohu-Bohu also advises a number of brands in developing
collections of exclusive patterns.

Samy Rio studied cabinetmaking for four years before enrolling
at ENSCI – Les Ateliers in Paris, where he spent the following
have provided him with the experience for working both in
industrial and artisanal contexts, two dimensions he feels are
complementary and inextricable. He graduated with honours
from ENSCI – Les Ateliers in October 2014, with a research
project on industrial applications for bamboo poles. In July
2015, he was awarded the Grand Prize Design Parade 10 at
the Villa Noailles for this very project. This prize later earned
him two residencies in 2016: at CIRVA in Marseille and the Cité
de la Céramique in Sèvres; and led him to start a collaboration
with Galerie Kreo. The same year, he was invited for a residency
at the NTCRI in Taiwan, where he continued his research on
bamboo together with local master craftsmen.
Through his various experiments with materials, he explores the
interactions between know-how and industry, traditions and
new techniques, in order to question not only materials, but
also the way we produce objects.

Raphaël Pluvinage& Marion Pinaffo

Marion Pinaffo and Raphaël Pluvinage are both independent
designers, both graduates of ENSCI – Les Ateliers (2013 and
2015 respectively). Marion creates moments of joy and ecstasy
through her objects. Whatever the scale or the material, she
engages the public with intuitive and unique propositions.
Her work is inspired by popular folklore. Raphaël develops his
expertise of today’s technological systems and their social,
aesthetic and political repercussions. His projects offer a
critical and original perspective on our relation to technology
and the use we make of it. After spending some time working
respectively, Marion and Raphaël started their collaboration in
2015 with a project entitled Papier Machine. Initiated at ENSCI
– Les Ateliers, the project continued through their residency at
Te Ataata in New Zealand, before they went on to win the Audi
Talents Awards in 2016.
Their works have been exhibited in a number of venues,
including La Gaîté Lyrique (Paris), in May 2013, as well as the
Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne, in April 2013.
More recently, they were part of the design collective RDC,
commissionned to create the scenography of an exhibition at
the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne in March 2017.
