Enjoy a Rouen Walking Tour and visit the Rouen Cathedral that inspired Claude Monet and the modern Church of Joan of Arc with its magnificent 16th-century stained-glass windows. See the Gros Horloge (astronomical clock), and the Parlia-ment of Normandy. Also see the Place du Vieux Marché, where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. This afternoon,

DAY 5: LE HAVRE & HONFLEURMorning: Ètretat Cliffs ExcursionAfternoon: Honfleur ExcursionToday, journey to Le Havre, an important port city in Normandy. This morning, enjoy an excursion along the Ètretat Cliffs. On the excursion, explore the Normandy coastline along Ètretat’s paths for a view of steep chalk rocks and impressive needle-like formations which have inspired many well-known artists. In the afternoon, enjoy an included visit the city of Honfleur, where the Seine meets the Atlantic. DAY 6: HISTORIC NORMANDY BEACHES & AMERICAN CEMETERYFull Day Excursion: Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, Normandy American Cemetery & Arromanches Today, experience the hallowed grounds of the Normandy Beaches and hear the stories of the massive operation which laid the foundations for Allied victory in World War II’s Western Front. Begin at Pointe du Hoc, a 100 ft. cliff overlooking the English Channel, the highest point between the American sector landings at Utah Beach to the west and Omaha Beach to the east. Next, visit Omaha Beach, a 5 mile section of the coast of Normandy, one of the five sectors of the Allied invasion of German-occupied France in the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944. Later travel to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, on the site of the temporary American St. Laurent Cemetery, established by the U.S. Army on June 8, 1944 as the first American cemetery on European soil in World War II. The cemetery site covers 173 acres and contains the graves of over 9,000 service members, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations. After lunch, visit Arro-manches, the closest harbor linked with the liberation of Western Europe after D-Day. See Chateau Galliard, built at the end of the 12th century on a limestone promontory overlooking the Seine. The chateau features stunning views of the river and surrounding countryside. Next, enjoy a visit to Giverny, home to Impressionist Claude Monet. The beautiful surroundings and vivid flora were inspiration for some of his most famous works, including his water lily paintings. We’ll discover the daily life of Parisians and reveal the secrets and marvels of the “City of Lights.” On the tour you will see important monuments in Paris including the incomparable Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Les Invalides, famous as the burial place of Emperor Napoleon I, the fabulous Louvre Museum, the famous and elegant Champs-Elysées, the Jardin des Tui-leries, former palace gardens laid out in the French style and much more.
