our mission

As God’s people, we will share the love of God in a way that nurtures body, mind and spirit. Demonstrating God’s love for the world, we will serve a diverse population and accept one another without reservations. By including all people as one family in worship and service to God, we are all empowered and inspired by

the Spirit to continue the work of Jesus Christ.

We would love to have our incredibly talented congregation share their brilliance with our children! If you’d like to offer to lead a project of your own devising, which needs to be workable for kids aged 4-10, in a 30-minute or less time frame, we’d love to hear your idea and put you on the schedule. HARDING SCHOOL CINCO DE MAYO CARNIVAL A SUCCESSWe received this note from Harding School:“The Cinco de Mayo Carnival at Harding School was a great success. Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered your time and energy towards this amazing event. Without your help, and dedication, none of this would have been possible. Our goal was $10,000 and I am so proud to say that we made just OVER $10,000! We have expenses to deduct, but tried out hardest to keep that at less than $700. Coupled with generous donations from Trinity Church and the Santa Barbara Fire Department we raised more money than ever at this event.” Thank you to everyone who volunteered, attended and donated generous Silent Auction Items. It was greatly appreciated.Susan KrutzschCYC Council and Harding School Helpers

about pledging

Our vision of Stewardship recognizes that God is the giver and has blessed each one of us with many gifts. Common to us all is the privilege and blessing of how we use the precious gifts of our time, talent and treasure. Stewardship is the spiritual practice of discerning the use of these gifts in building God’s dream of love and justice in our hearts, relationships and world. At Trinity we call your gift of time and talent Shared Ministry and we call your gift of treasure a pledge. Pledge forms are available at the Welcome Table.

MEETING CHURCH AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME A Refresher Course on the Episcopal Tradition and Trinity Church

Begins Tuesday June 7, Ends Sunday June 19, 2016

If you have been participating at Trinity for a while and are feeling moved by the Spirit to find out more about the faith that energizes our life here and explore the possibility of membership, Confirmation or Baptism, we encourage you to participate in the Meeting Church Again for the First Time series that begins on Tuesday, June 7. We welcome also, those who have been around for a while and just want a “theological update” and the opportunity to make some wonderful connections. This series has rich content where participants have the opportunity to learn and explore:

o Our historical roots in the Anglican traditiono The richness of our Worship and Sacramentso Our ways to interpret the Bible and its role in our faitho Practicing the Christian Life

We do all of this in the context of building real Christian Community. You will have the opportunity get to know others more deeply who are on the journey of faith with you as we discover how our stories are connected to God’s Story. “Meeting Church” is just about the best way we know to get acquainted with Trinity, and to find your way into more active participation (called membership) here.

PSALM 104:25-35, 37

REFRAINO LORD, how manifold are your works! in wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.Yonder is the great and wide seawith its living things too many to number, creatures both small and great. There move the ships, and there is that Leviathan, which you have made for the sport of it.REFRAIN All of them look to you to give them their food in due season. You give it to them; they gather it; you open your hand, and they are filled with good things.REFRAIN You hide your face, and they are terrified; you take away their breath, and they die and return to their dust. You send forth your Spirit, and they are created; and so you renew the face of the earth.REFRAIN May your glory, O LORD, endure for ever; may you rejoice in all your works. You look at the earth and it trembles; you touch the mountains and they smoke.REFRAINI will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will praise my God while I have my being.May these words of mine please you; I will rejoice in the LORD.Bless the LORD, O my soul. Hallelujah!REFRAIN

OFFERTORY ANTHEM TEXT Draw us in the Spirit’s tether,For when humbly in Thy name,Two or three are met togetherThou are in the midst of them;Alleluia! Alleluia!Touch we now Thy garment’s hem.

As the brethren used to gatherIn the name of Christ to sup,Then with thanks to God the FatherBreak the bread and bless the cup,Alleluia! Alleluia! So knit Thou our friendship up.

All our meals and all our livingMake as sacraments of Thee,That by caring, helping, givingWe may true disciples be.Alleluia! Alleluia! We will serve Thee faithfully.(Percy Dearmer, 1867-1936)

COMMUNION ANTHEM TEXT God be in my head, and in my understanding;God be in mine eyes, and in my looking;God be in my mouth, and in my speaking;God be in my heart, and in my thinking;God be at mine end, and at my departing.(Sarum Primer, 1558)

Our hearts are filled with gratitude beyond measure for all who were so generous in the gifts of their time from Bach to the Beatles, to our Community Celebration to May 1. It was all an expression of what is best about Trinity. Thank you, Mark and Bill
