IN LOVING MEMORY Kilshanny Saturday 9th 7.00pm Gussie Nagle, Knockerska (First A) Ned Murphy, Kildysart (A) Michael Hynes, Smithstown (A) Saturday 16th 7.00pm John Donnellan, Carrowmanagh (A) Gus Droney, Caherkinalla (A) Sean Hogan, Lisdoonvarna (A) Mickey Hogan, Rooska (A) Doolin Sunday 10th 10.00am John McNamara, Ballysallagh (A) Jimmy McNamara, Ballysallagh (A) Gus O’Connor, Fisher Street (A) Bridie McLoughlin, London (A) Sunday 17th 10.00am Mary-Ellen Scales and deceased of family, Carnane (A) Lisdoonvarna Sunday 10th 11.30am Jim Connell and deceased of family, Cahermakerla (A) Joe Maher and deceased of family, Cahermane (A) Monday 11th 7.00pm Ashleigh Johnson, England (RIP) Joe Doyle, England (RIP) Thursday 14th 7.00pm Michael and Peggy Callinan, England George and Bridie Lambert, England Sunday 17th 11.30am Mary Burke, Atlantic Road (A) Kitty, Michael and Nora O’Connell, and deceased of family, Aughiska (A) We also pray for the soul of our parishioner George McMahon of Loughmareda, Lisdoonvarna, whose funeral takes place this Sunday: and for Patricia Clune late of Dublin, mother of our parishioner Eileen Tierney of Kilshanny. May they share in the Lord’s resurrection. Receiving Holy Communion The Sign of Peace is optional in the liturgy. If included, it may be shared in many ways: by a handshake; or a friendly smile; or a reverent bow or by waving a warm salute or by quiet words of blessing to your neighbour. All these are perfectly acceptable, and the choice is yours. We approach the real presence of the Lord in Holy Communion with great love, thanksgiving, humility and joy. As a sign of your love, please consume the host before walking away from the priest or Minister of Holy Communion. The Precious Blood of Jesus is also available for everyone, especially those with coeliac issues. The chalice is usually available from a minister near the altar, or from the priest. Those who, for any reason, wish to receive a blessing from the priest instead of Holy Communion can indicate this by approaching him at Communion time with arms crossed over their breast. Other bits and pieces from the Pastor’s Desk… a cháirde We welcome our First Holy Communion children! Today is a Do This In Memory Sunday! This programme is an important way of uniting the ministry of parents, teachers and the worshipping community of our parish in preparing our young children to make their First Holy Communion. My thanks and appreciation to all involved in leading, encouraging and co- ordinating the programme. May it bear a lasting spiritual fruit for our little ones and for the whole parish! Confirmation Day in Doolin and Kilshanny The day of Confirmation in our parish is fast approaching! On Thursday 28th of April at 11.00am in Doolin Church the girls and boys of fifth and sixth class of our parish schools in Doolin and Kilshanny will be sealed with the Holy Spirit by Canon Peter Rabbitte. All are invited to take part in this joyful celebration. Let’s keep the youth of parish who are preparing for the special day in our thoughts and prayers. May they grow ever more deeply in love with God as we prepare to accept them as fully- fledged Spirit-filled members of our parish community. Pre-Confirmation Spiritual Preparations Confirmation Enrolment Ceremony: At 10.00am Mass in Doolin next Sunday 17th April this year’s Confirmation candidates will be presented to our worshipping community for their public enrolment and for the community’s prayers of blessing. Mass of the Holy Spirit: At 7.00pm on Thursday 21st April in Lisdoonvarna Church there will be a Mass of the Holy Spirit followed by Quiet Vigil before the Blessed Sacrament, and an opportunity for Confession, for all who are preparing for Confirmation. All parishioners are invited to come to support them in prayer. More volunteers are needed to serve as Eucharistic Ministers and Collectors in Lisdoonvarna. Doolin in particular needs more Eucharistic ministers if at all possible. All choirs are actively seek singers and musicians too! Our beautiful parish hosts so many tourists at our worship over the summer months. It would be a great gift to the Lord, to visitors - and to us - to celebrate beautiful liturgies full of the famous richness of art, music, creativity and talents of our community. Please consider offering your help! Special Second Collection Next Weekend for Vocations Next Sunday is Vocations Sunday and with this in mind there will be a special collection at all Masses in the diocese for the education and training of the student priests of our diocese. Thank God we have three excellent seminarians: Deacon Daniel, who please God will be ordained a priest in July, and Declan and John Gerard. While our financial support is necessary, our prayers and encouragement are also hugely important to them and for encouraging all future vocations to the priesthood too.
