Parish News 2

Dear Parishioners and Council Members, It is with pleasure that we inform you that your Knights of Columbus Council of the Parish of the Holy Eucharist will be four years old on Tuesday August 22, 2017. During the last four years, because of your generosity and support, our council has been able to help many, with our Scholarship Program, the Children with the Coats for Kids Program, the Needy within the Community and the State, the Intellectually Disabled Program, and the Baby Bottle Program for the unborn Child and Parent, to include the new ultrasound machine which was purchased this year for the ABBA Center. A big thank you goes out to our Priests and our Deacon for being supportive in their guidance during the last four years. With our achievements your council has been recognized as a model council to follow by the Maine State Council of the Knights of Columbus. Pictured are the Council Officers who will be leading our council during 2017/2018. Our goals in the coming year can only be reached by the continued support and team work of all our members, their families, and lastly our parishioners and visitors. We can only do this by continuing to grow our Membership, “One New Member at a Time”. Please consider joining our Family Centered Council today. Grand Knight, Mike Crowley Haiti door collection this weekend to support our sister parish, Sacre-

Coeur de Meyer, Haiti. Your contributions support the pastoral work of Father Bertrand Dieuveille of Meyer, as well as the parish center and community work of five religious Sisters. We have recently learned of the need to replace the generator for the church and rectory. Electricity in Haiti is sporadic and uneven -- sometimes functioning about five

hours a day. Your contributioat the door as you leave Mass will help significantly. Dear Parishioners, As I conclude my six-year assignment at Saint Joseph’s College and move to my new parish assignment in Yonkers, New York, I take with me the treasure of fond memories of you, the members of the Parish of the Holy Eucharist. Although it was only from time to time that I was with you, many of you, from oldest to youngest, inspired me, and all of you were unfailingly gracious and supportive. May God continue to guide our pilgrim way. Sincerely, Fr. John McHugh, O.F.M. Cap.

Please Take the Time to Remember in Prayer: Those who are ill or are recovering from surgery… Gertrude Chandler who is very ill Ron Fuance for courage and strength Gretchen Sayward for surgery and recovery If you want to request prayers for someone in need, please contact Fr. Daniel Greenleaf at [email protected] to get permission from the person for whom you are requesting prayers. Do you have a devotion to the Rosary? We would like to form Rosary prayer groups at Holy Martyrs and Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoons before Mass. St. Gregory has this group devotion at 3:30 every Saturday. Many Popes and Saints have encouraged this form of group prayer. St. Louis Marie de Montfort said..."When people say the Rosary together it is far more formidable to he devil than one said privately, because in this public prayer it is an army that is attacking. It is very easy to break a single stick, but if you join it to others to make a bundle, it cannot be broken. In union, there is strength." Please contact Fr. Daniel if you would like to help with leading this devotion. You can also email us at [email protected].

Dear Parishioners, It was an honor for me to be in your parish this summer. I realized that I received many graces from God and love and help from you. Through my communication with you, I also learned a lot of useful lessons. As you know, I will be transferred to The Catholic University of America this fall. In gratitude, today, I want to express my thanks to you. May the Lord bless all of you. Please do not forget me and keep me in your prayers. Words are not enough to express my thanks. Sincerely, Hoa Nguyen

Let us remember all of our Seminarians in prayer as they resume their fall studies.
