Dear Friends:
Please join us for National Catholic Schools Week, our
annual celebration of what makes education at Sacred
Heart School outstanding. Starting with Sunday Mass
on January 31st, we have a whole week of activities
planned to show what our students are accomplishing
and to celebrate the community we have built to educate
tomorrow’s citizens and church leaders.
This year’s National Catholic Schools Week theme cen-
ters on community: “Catholic Schools: Communities of
Faith, Knowledge and Service.” The theme highlights the
fact that schools are not only communities themselves;
they are also part of many other communities, including
families, parishes, towns/cities and our country.
The theme also focuses on key elements of Catholic edu-
cation: faith development, academic excellence and dedi-
cation to service. These elements set Catholic schools apart
from other educational options. They are why families
make sacrifices to provide their children with a Catholic
education.
I hope you will visit Sacred Heart School during Na-
tional Catholic Schools Week to enjoy the students’ art
work, knowledge bowls, talent show, and learn about
their faith development and community service projects.
Please bring your friends and neighbors, particularly
those who may be considering Catholic education for their
children.
I am grateful every day for the teachers, staff, board
members, parents and volunteers who make our school a
success. National Catholic Schools Week is a good time
for all of us to thank them for their dedication and
service.
Devotedly yours in Christ,
Rosemary Harris
Mission Project: “Comfort Bags”
This Month Mrs. Sue Hartogh’s preschool class has chosen to pre-pare “Comfort Bags” to be given to the local Police Department to help children who have been taken out of their homes and from
their family due to their parents being taken to jail, hospital, or other situations. When these children are removed from their home, they travel with trash bags in hand, if they have anything at all. Mrs. Har-togh and her students would like to prepare at least 15 bags to do-nate to these children in need. The bags will be provided, and they ask that each family do what they can to help. If you don’t want to
shop, then a donation could be used to help purchase some of these items. Please send all donations to the School labeled
“Comfort Bags” This program will end on January 29th. Thank you for your support on this mission project!
