Please remember the information we printed in last weeks Carmel about their use. There has been a concerning development this week however. The number of people registering for mass and the actual head count are not matching by a significant number, especially evident at the 10am Mass. You must register for every Mass you attend, either by calling the church office in advance, registering online or on entering the church (registration sheets are highly visible in the narthex.) Not registering means that if a parishioner attends Mass and later tests positive for Covid- 19, those who have not registered will be uncontactable, which could prove costly for all concerned. - Fr Denis Andrew O Carm (Parish Priest) - FUNERAL - A Requiem Mass for the late Gerard Francis Gardner (k/a Gerry) will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Wentworthville this coming Wednesday 7th October at 10.30am. We extend our sincere sympathy to Gerrys family. Gerry was a parishioner here for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir. May he rest in peace.

In today’s gospel, Jesus is telling the authority around him that they had their chance to grow the kingdom of God. And (wow!) did they blow it! So now, God is giving his kingdom to the people. It will be the people who will care and grow the kingdom of God. It will be the people who will do what the authorities should be doing, campaigning for

positive change, for inclusion, for social reform, political responsibility, financial transparency, and sustainable living.

So, what does that look like? Well, tune into any global news item and you will hear that it’s the people who are doing just that; Hong Kong are still protesting against injustice, in Belarus against a dictator, in the States against racism, the list goes on. Any time that we advocate for the most vulnerable, we are building the kingdom of God. That could mean supporting local businesses, phoning someone who has been in isolation, calling-out racism when it happens, donating to a charity, speaking kindly about our parish, or even just appreciating the natural beauty of our planet.

So, this week when there is an opportunity to act with love, I’m going to take. And not blow it!

Peace be with you.
