Your generous gifts and donations were much appreciated this
holiday season! We were able to provide gifts to all of the
Park families in need and make their season a little brighter!
We were also able to start a Family in Need fund with all the
money donated using the Stars on the Mitten Tree. This fund
will be used throughout the year to help Park Students in
need go on field trips with their classmates, get the books
and school supplies they desperately need, and much more.
It was so heartwarming to see those donations come in!
Movie night is January 11th at 7:00pm. The feature is ‘Ice
Age 4: Continental Drift’. Wear your warmest, coziest pajamas
and bring your cuddliest blanket! This story is sure to warm your heart. Don’t forget to
bring 50 Box Tops/Labels for Education, and old electronic device or a used ink cartridge to get a free ticket for
popcorn or a juice box!
Have you made any new year’s resolutions? Maybe you want to give back to your community more? The PTO is a
great place to fulfill that goal. We’re always looking for helpful organizers, volunteers, and donations. We are
looking for help with our upcoming Valentine Dinner Dance. If you can provide raffle items or donate your time,
we’d be thrilled! How about helping with Inspiration Day? We are already planning for this annual May event, and
need your help. Please contact Aubrey Albert at [email protected] or see the form in this newsletter
for more information.
Join us for our General PTO Meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8th at 7pm in the Media Center to hear what we’re up to
and find out how you can help! Remember to send in winter gear with your kids each day,
and be safe on your travels to and from school. Enjoy the winter season upon us.

Crime Scene Science Assembly – Dec. 14th
The students enjoyed a 45-minute program introducing them to the exciting field of the science behind solving crimes. Chemistry, physics, and biology were all discussed through a variety of demonstrations involving a lot of audience participation. Do you know how to make a mold of a shoe from a partial footprint? Park students do! The basic rules of observation and critical thinking were also introduced. They were all surprised to figure out who the “The Great Cat Caper” really was!

Dear Park School Families, The beginning stages of planning for Insp i rat ion Day 2013 have officially begun! As many of you know, this day is a special day for students to try new things and inspire their interests. On behalf of the Park School PTO, I would like to invite you to be a volunteer during our Inspiration Day activities on Fr iday, May 17, 2013 . We hope you can help us provide the students with a wealth of workshops to select from. As a volunteer, you will be provided with beverages, a light breakfast, and lunch. If you need materials to teach your workshop, the PTO can provide reimbursement for your expenses. (Pre-authorization for purchases and an original store receipt are required for reimbursement.) Set up time is available the evening of Thursday, May 16th or you can simply arrive early on Friday, May 17th. Arrival on May 17th is at 8:00 a.m. and activities finish up around 2:30 pm. Presenters will be assigned a classroom and students will rotate through the classroom to participate in your workshop. School staff members will accompany students during the workshops to provide extra adult help as needed. There will be 6 rotations during the school day, each lasting 40 minutes. Students in grades 1– 8 will participate; K will have their own “Inspiration Day”. Typically 20-25 students are in each session, unless otherwise specified. We are eagerly beginning to plan for this inspiring day by securing presenters for the workshops. Workshop assignments are first come, first serve. Please fill out the presenter form, if applicable, and return to the school o f f i ce on or before Tuesday, January 22nd. If you are unable to be a presenter, but would like to help with set up, supply preparation, directing traffic flow in hallways, or assisting a presenter during their workshops, feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. Please forward this information to anyone else that may be interested in helping and sharing one of their talents with our students. I look forward to a fun and educational day with the kids at Park School. Cordially, Aubrey L. Albert Inspiration Day Chairperson Park School PTO 224-475-2070
