REPORT ON THE MINI WORLD CUP HOCKEY 2010by MARSIA REED

Die U/8s laat my elke jaar opgewonde raak oor hokkie net entoesiasme en puregeniet!! Die Blou Bul doelwagter Marelise het die doelhok goed opgepas, Vanessaagter saam met Klarike weet ek laat geen bal sommer by hul verby nie. In diemiddel werk Nika, Marie-Daleen en Maryke gewoontlik in n dodelike kombinasiedie ander span deurmekaar en dan sit jy nog vir Lorista, Ador, Lihany en Mignonook by en jy kry n Silwer span. Hou hierdie girls dop hier kom nasionale sterrevan die toekoms hieruit. Geluk met die tweede plek ek weet dis welverdiend endie beloning op n hele seisoen se werk en oefen. Hou jul groepie bymekaar en julmors een van die dae met enige ander skool se span met jul talent en vernuf.Die U/10 seuns is die spannetjie wat verlede jaar nie een wedstryd gewen hetnie, maar verseker die meeste geesdrif van almal gehad het. Vanjaar kan mens

duidelik die groei van die afgelope seisoen in die mannetjies ervaar die skills enspelpatrone kom soms sterk deur en ander kere rus die lyf en die brein (geenliggies gaan aan nie) tot groot frustrasie van die afrigter. In hierdie span is daarn paar manne wat al n tydjie lank hokkie speel : CF (eintlik U/8 Ma!!!), Stephan,

Sarel, Morn en Francois. Vanjaar kon ons Helmut en Gian byvoeg en ons tweerosies tussen die dorinkies, Salomie en Cornette wat vir geen seun terugstaannie. Ons sien uit om julle manne (en meisies) volgende jaar weer in aksie te sien.Bou voort op wat jul het en geniet elke oomblik soos net julle kan.Die U/12 meisies is al n geruime tyd n gedugte span wat maklik enige ander spanaandurf van die kus tot selfs U/14s!! Verlede jaar het hul die finaal net net

gemis en vanjaar was hul daar om Australia te verteenwoordig. Geluk meisies metdie welverdiende tweede plek daardie silwer medaljes gaan binnekort plek maakvir goues. Jul speel nie net goed hokkie ook nie, maar dans jul nog erg oulik ook!!Die U/12 seunswas het met n spoed weggetrek en alle wedstryde van die beginaf gewen. Maar later die dag toe die energievlakke daal het van diewedstrydplanne opbruik geraak en was die regterkant van die veld onbeman.Nogtans het hierdie span die finaal met n punt gemis.

Die U/14 seuns was in n klas van hul eie. Dis jare se speel en ervaring wat hullaat uitstaan het bo die ander. Udo, tot en met die finaal was die doele teen joun nul!!! Sonder jou in die kas sal die manne nooit so hoog op kan speel soos hulgraag doen nie. Hanno en Florian het voor doele ingesit wat blykbaar magic was ek is spyt ek het dit gemis!! Breda, Marco, Immanuel, John voor, agter, middel,jiggle, skills, spoed, vernuf bou voort hierop en geniet jul hokkie in diehorskole waarheen jul oppad is. Weet verseker ek kom spook by elkeen van jullewat ophou hokkie speel. Jul het n besondere talent wat deure vorentoe kan

oopmaak vir julle gebruik dit. Geluk met die silwer jul is ons goue span!!!Die U/14 meisies is altyd my gunsteling span. Ons gooi hierdie girls vir die wolweomdat ons nooit genoeg meisies vir die span het nie en dan U/12s indruk - danmoet hul nog, sonder goalie, kompeteer met meisies wat al verskeie jare hokkie

speel. Jul het egter nooit terug gestaan nie en ek kon sien jul het elke oomblikgeniet. Elke wedstryd het die doele teen jul minder en minder geraak. Ek maak

altyd staat op die U/14 meisies om die gees van die dag te bepaal en dit dan tehandhaaf en in daardie doel het jul 100% geslaag. Dankie vir jul entoesiasme engeesdrif. Hou aan speel en ontgin daardie potensiaal moet net nooit die genotvan sport verloor nie. Mens leer soms meer uit n verloor as n wen. Ek sien uitdaarna om Parkies Hokkie Sterre op die hokkieveld te sien. Ek sal altyd iewerslangs n hokkie veld wees op die uitkyk vir ons hokkie kinders met diewonderlikste talent en persoonlikhede in die hele Windhoek!! Ek groet julleMarsia Reed

Recently the prefects launched a fund raising project with the aim of supportingthe SPCA in Windhoek. Funds were raised primarily through a cake sale held atthe school. Some kind sponsorship was received from some parents for whichwe are most grateful.Funds were used to provide the animals with warm blankets during the coldwinter, as well as tennis balls to entertain the animals while at the SPCA. Wehanded over the items to the SPCA on a Friday afternoon in late may and it wasreceived with much appreciation by our hairy Friends,I wish to thank Mr. Wheal and my fellow prefects to their dedication towardsthis special project, once again showing that PARKIES makes a difference in thecommunity. I absolutely love animals and was glad that we as a prefect group couldcontribute something to the SPCA. We went to a visit and looked some of the

animals but we couldnt see many dogs as almost all of them were tested for

pests like rabies. It broke my heart to see those poor animals just waiting to beadopted and live in a good home! The prefect boys made them one cat scratchpole and the cats will definitely enjoy sharpening their claws! I hope it wont be

long before we can go and visit them again. I think Im going to bake doggie

biscuits this holiday and also donate it to them! We would also like to help outthere on weekends! I am really glad that I was able to help the SPCA and wouldof course in future also do so! One simple way you can help is by adopting there,because a few years ago we adopted a German sherpard cross, Rudolf, and heturned out to be a wonderful friend!KIAH PSARRAKIS

Once in a Parkies time Richard, Rafael and Chanel Botha went on a trip withtheir family chasing the WORLD CUP all over South Africa.They started their adventure at Soccer City with the opening and saw howTSHABALA made history for Bafana Bafana. The atmosphere wasVUVU_ELECTRIC.The real adventure began with the second round games when they watched7 games in 8 days. They went from Rustenburg to Bloemfontein, Soccer City,Ellis Park and Loftus.There was no rest. They had gotten sick. They were diagnosed with soccerfever.Watching Spain beating Paraguay and knowing that Spain was going to win theWorld Cup, made it so much more special.Along the way, they leant how to sing like the English, speak like the Japanese,play like the Spanish, drink like the Germans and not to take penalties like theGhanaians.Viva Africa, Viva Soccer City, Viva Vuvuzela, Viva the World Cup, VivaVilla, Viva Waka Waka, Viva ESPANOL!And please no more penalties, our nerves could not take it anymore.

Dear Ms SimiloIs this a good punishment that a learner with a red letter should be excluded from theprefect list? This is the question we all want to know.In my opinion it is a very good thing. A lot of children who have received red letters are
