    You are going to read a CATIA document

    8Click file on the menu bar8Select open

    You are going to add a new Part Body to allowBoolean operations

    8Right click on Spindle Body8Select Define In Work Object

    G The Spindle Body should now be underlined in thespecification tree to indicate that it is the In Work Object

    8Click on Insert on the menu bar8Select Body

    You are going to draw a sketch and use it to createa Shaft8Click on yz plane in the specification tree8Click on the sketcher icon8Deactivate the Snap to Point capability byclicking on the icon (it must not be red)

    8Click on the profile icon to create the whiteprofile as shown on the right8Single-click at the indicated START point andmove cursor down creating a vertical line (1).The sketcher assistant tells you when the line is

    vertical with the blue color line

    8Single click to stop your first line (2)8Move the cursor left to continue your profile witha horizontal line. The sketcher assistant tells you when the line is

    horizontal with the blue color line8Single click to stop your second line (3)

    8Single click at the END POINT to finish theprofile and click on the Profile icon again to exitthe function

    G Be sure that all geometrical constraints shown on the rightare visible on the profile

    .If one or more geometrical constraints are missing,follow the following steps to add the constraint(s)

    8Select the line8Click on Constraints Defined in a Dialog Boxicon8In the Constraint Definition window, click onVertical or Horizontal box option8Click OK to confirm selection

    .Repeat the same procedure for any other missinggeometrical constraint(s)

    .An arc and and its radius are displayedG Take care to have the pre-visualization arc at the correct

    location (as shown) before pressing Enter

    8Enter 38 and the value will be automaticallyplaced on the Radius field then press Enter

    .An arc and and its radius are displayed8Enter 152 and the value will be automaticallyplaced on the Radius field then press Enter

    G Take care to have the pre-visualization arc on the rightlocation (as shown) before pressing Enter

    To sketch an axis on the yz plane8Click on the axis icon to add an axis as shownon the right

    G Click in the 1 area. Make sure the line is blueG Click in the 2 area

    Add a coincidence constraint between the axis andSTART and END points of the sketched axis line8Click on the axis

    G Press key to multi-select elements

    8Click on the START point8Click on Constraints Defined in a Dialog Boxicon

    G The constraint definition box should appear

    8Check Coincidence box8Click OK to confirm selection

    Repeat the same procedure for the axis and theEND point of the sketched axis line

    You will add other dimensional constraints to thesketched profile as shown on the right8Click on the Constraint icon8Select the two indicated lines8Click on the area where you want place thedimension8Double click on this dimension to edit it8Enter 110 in the Value field and press key

    8Repeat these operations to create the result asshown in the picture

    G To create the 25 dimension you need to select an edgefrom the 3D geometry

    Modify dimensional constraints to match theillustration as shown on the right

    8Repeat these operations to create the result asshown in the picture

    .To create the 47 dimension select the vertical line,click on MB3 and select the Position Dimensionoption to place the dimension this will prevent youfrom accidentally selecting the geometry and creatinga wrong dimension.

    .If you accidentally create a wrong dimension, weremind you that you can restart by clicking on theSelect icon

    8Click the Exit Workbench icon

    If you fail to create the sketch:

    8If you have not already exited the Sketcher,click on the Exit workbench icon

    8Delete the Sketch.20 you just have created withMB3 on Sketch.20 + Delete

    8Expand the Open_Body.1 by clicking on the +symbol

    8With MB3 on Sketch.20 select Hide/Show

    If you have succeeded in creating the sketch,continue the scenario on the next page

    You can now create the shaft feature

    8Click on the shaft iconG The shaft definition box should appear

    .Be sure the parameters in the definition box matchthe parameters shown on the right. Select the sketchyou have just designed if needed.

    8Click on Apply to preview shaft feature

    8Click OK to confirm shaft featureG The shaft feature is added to the specification tree

    You can create a multi instantiation of the shaftusing the circular pattern icon8Click and keep MB1 on the black arrow at thebottom right of the Rectangular Pattern icon8Drag the mouse then release MB1 on the circularpattern icon8Select Shaft.2 in the specification tree

    G The circular pattern definition box should appear

    8Select Complete crown in the Parameters field8Enter 3 for the Instance(s) field8Click on the Reference element field8Select the external cylinder in the 3D view8Click on Apply to preview circular pattern ofshaft8Click OK to confirm circular pattern of shaft

    You can use a Boolean operation to assemble andtrim the two bodies

    8Right click on Turret Body in the specificationtree8Select Turret Body object8Select Union Trim

    You can now create an edge fillet8Click on the edge fillet icon.Key in 38mm for the radius field

    8Click on Object(s) to fillet field8Using the mouse,select the 3 inner edges of the shaft asshown below.Each time you select an edge, check in the Object(s) to fillet

    field in the Edge Fillet Definition window that the number ofedges is increasing. If you can read 1 Face it means you haveselected a face instead of an edge. So deselect it by clicking onthe same face.

    8Click OK to confirm edge fillet feature

    You will create a pad feature, using the profilesketched on the surface, as shown on the right

    Sketching the pad profile8Click on the project 3D elements icon8Select the edge you want to project, as shownon the right8Click anywhere off the geometry to confirmselection of edge

    G The color of the edge should now be yellow

    8Click and hold MB1 on the black arrow at thebottom right of the Circle icon8Drag the mouse then release MB1 on the Arcicon

    8Select the origin as the center point of the arcG Make sure the Double circle appears. This means there will

    be a coincidence constraint between this point and the origin

    You will now duplicate an element using symmetry8Click on the Symmetry icon8Click on the line between the start point of thearc and the endpoint of the projected edge.

    8Click on the vertical axis. This is the line fromwhich the element will remain equidistant

    G A line should appear between the endpoint of the arc andthe endpoint of the projected edge as shown on the rightG The symmetry symbol should appear as shown on the right
