QUESTIONS Read Mark 4:1-20 1. This parable implies that all humans have heart issues. As a Christian, which of the three bad soils to you struggle with and why? 2. On the path, Satan steals away the Word from people who hear about God. Give some examples of how he steals the Word from us. 3. In the rocky soil, we don’t put down roots to grow in God’s Word and when things get rough we fall away. How can we get rooted in Christ? 4. In the thorny soil, we accept and believe, but are drawn back to the things of this world. What are some of the thorns we face today and how do they keep us distracted? 5. Jesus talks about a fourth soil, one that is fertile and produces much growth. How do we condition our hearts to have a soil that is fertile and ready to bear much fruit for Christ, not the previous soils described? NEXT STEPS / CHALLENGE: As you go through this week, pray about what your next steps are. Pray that God will help us all have a heart open to hear and act on God’s Word. Pray that God will show you how you can encourage someone else who’s struggling with what kind of soil they are trying to grow in. God wants everyone to come to know Him. We have to do our part by sharing our faith and helping people cultivate a soil in their hearts that will help them grow and bear fruit.
