ROYALBOND WATERBORNE
TECHNOLOGY THE COMPANY ROYALBOND CO. is a division of Royal Group Technologies Limited, with the main mission to develop a highly technologically advanced coating system for the Plastics Industry and other related building products. Backed with more than 30 years experience in the Plastics Technology and with dedicated efforts to develop a specially formulated coating system that reduces “heat build” on the plastic substrates and other materials, ROYALBOND CO. has achieved its goal. Today, RoyalBond Waterborne Technology is a well tested and field proven PVC window coating system, which provides outstanding protection against all weather conditions, without peeling, flaking or cracking. RoyalBond Waterborne Technology is now being used within the Royal Group and has appointed several applicators in North America. Tomorrow’s technology today is the philosophy used to develop the Waterborne RoyalBond product line. Of years past, the traditional old white wash, water-type paint has been transformed into the most advanced, highly technical waterborne industrial coating. An experimental matrix of strategically formulated materials were balanced to yield the highest of performance properties. Waterborne RoyalBond is a product line consisting of a thermoplastic colored protective coating for the plastics industry. The dry film insures improved performance properties with the smooth, uniform finish. PRODUCT INFORMATION The term “waterborne coatings” includes two categories: water soluble systems and emulsion/dispersion systems. Distinctive characteristics of the polymer classify each category. Water-soluble systems use amines to neutralize acid-functional resins into a variety of water-soluble alkyds, acrylics, polyesters, and their hybrids. The amines neutralize the carboxyl groups. System parameters are molecular weight, acid value, co-solvent level, and amine efficiency for balanced performance properties. Emulsions have a general particle size of 0.1 micron while dispersions have a general particle size of about 1.0-micron. Dispersions are often called suspensions. Suspension polymers are aqueous systems where the polymer solid is a dispersed solid phase. Dispersions have the initiator dissolved in the monomer phase while emulsions have the initiator located in the aqueous phases. Both, emulsion and dispersion polymerization, lead to different kinetics. Aqueous solutions of polymers are characterized by particles of infinitesimal size being, too small to be measured. RoyalBond Waterborne Technology is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyurethane-acrylic-hybrid dispersion system. It is a high performance single component waterborne exterior and interior coating system suited for direct application to PVC, Foamed PVC, polystyrene, polypropylene, fiberglass, almost all plastics, metals and woods, provided that method statement are obtained from RoyalBond Co. RoyalBond Waterborne Technology is specially formulated to reduce the heat build-up on the substrate; thereby it provides additional value and help to the material to stay longer.

Westeck Windows Mfg Inc. Vinyl Paint Information
A True Water Borne vinyl coating system is produced by North America’s leading Plastics Technologies and manufacturing Company. Royalbond Co., a division of Royal Group Technologies Ltd. - North America’s largest vinyl window extrusion producer. Quality control procedures include ISO 9000, applicator audits, laboratory analysis and testing for TQM and total traceability, with sales restricted to only those who pass intense inspection and are granted “Approved Applicator,” status. As an Approved Applicator of Royalbond and a Royal Group vinyl customer Westeck Windows has strategically developed a custom vinyl coating program and in conjunction with Royal Bond, a ten year warranty. Technologically and Quality Royal Spectra Coat System™ applied by Westeck Windows is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyurethane-acrylic-hybrid dispersion system. Its formulation is highly advanced using a Stealth Type Technology, creating invisibility and reflectability. For example test results of the black paint have a Heat Build of 22°C which is similar to the Heat Build of unpainted white vinyl. This means the ambient temperature is added to this Heat Build number for total material temperature. Westeck’s vinyl window extrusion has a Heat Distortion Temperature of 65° C and Vicat Softening point at 82° C. All Paints, Applications and Extrusions are tested and meet or exceed AAMA 615-02 Standards, reference table below. Windows painted by Westeck with Royal Bond paint can be installed in Earth’s hottest climates. It should be noted that all tests performed, all paint applied and all warranties extended are specific to the combination of Royal Bond Paint and Royal Group extrusions only.
Green Factor Royal Spectra Coat System™ has the lowest VOC (Volatile Organic Component), level of 15g/liter, meaning this paint has set a health benchmark for the entire paint industry. Royal Spectra Coat System™ is registered with WorkSafe BC, passes even the strict Guidelines for Control of Air Emissions from Surface Coating Operations in California (currently regarded as the strictest enforced standard) and is currently being consulted by the Ontario Ministry of Environment Smog Control Project studying paint and solvent (VOC) usage from the Plastic Parts and Products Coatings. Verification: Test results on any of the above AAMA standards are available by (email) request.
AAMA 615-02 Standard, ASTM D 523-89 Gloss @ 60deg, Section 6.7.2 Mortar Resistance, ASTM D 3363-00 Dry Film Hardness, Section 6.7.3 Nitric Acid Resistance, Section 6.4.1.2 Wet film Adhesion, Section 6.7.4 Detergent Resistance, Section 6.4.1.3 Boiling water Adhesion, Section 6.7.5 Window Cleaner Resistance, Section 6.5 Impact Resistance, Section 6.10 Cold Crack Cycle, Section 6.6 Abrasion Resistance ASTM D968-93 (2001), Section 6.11 Oven Aging, Section 6.7.1 Muriatic Acid Resistance, Section 6.12 Heat Build-Up (Astm D 4803-97).
