ABOUT THE BUSSELTON JETTY SWIMThe Busselton Jetty Swim is a premier event on the WA sporting calendar and features a 3.6km ocean swim around the iconic Busselton Jetty. Since 1996, the swim has grown in popularity from a local attraction with 82 participants to an internationally recognised event attracting 3,300 competitors and 10,500 spectators in 2020. Click here for more information.

The event has grown each year and is coordinated by a small group of fifteen dedicated committee members who form ‘Busselton Allsports Incorporated’. The event is staged with the help of many volunteers who give freely of their time to ensure the smooth running of the event each year. Click here for more information.

The event is open to every person regardless of age, gender, ability, disability or experience with participants having the option to complete the course solo or in teams of two or four. The event attracts competitors from regional, state, national and international destinations.

2021 will be a unique year due to the unprecedented impact Covid19 has had on our regional communities. . The event has traditionally focused on Participation, Affordability, Inclusivity and Community however 2021 will also be a year of Recovery, Unity and Celebration. Our event is so important more than ever, not just for the swim but the importance of providing an opportunity for swimmers to train towards, improving physical and mental health; boosting the local economy; bringing the public back outdoors and uniting a community.

Event organisers will be following all Federal and State Government COVID19 guidelines. New protocols will be in place to accommodate the safety, health and wellbeing of our swimmers, spectators, sponsors and volunteers.

The event provides a unique opportunity for you to align yourself or your business with one of the most popular community and sporting events in WA – so come and join in the fun!

OUR VALUES Participation: In acknowledgment of the value of community involvement and engagement we value, encourage and nurture participation in the event be it as a swimmer, volunteer, partner, spectator or supporter.

Inclusion: We are committed to running an event that is inclusive rather than elite in its focus.

Community: Developing an event that inspires, engages and benefits the community with a strong emphasis on volunteering, community service and leadership and with strong business benefits for community groups and local businesses.

Affordability: Actively seeking new ways to keep the swim affordable for the wider community whilst ensuring it remains financially viable.

Good Governance: As an Incorporated Association, our organisation must comply with the Associations Incorporation Act 2015. The committee subscribes to this model of governance to best ensure that we can continue to honour our values and meet our strategic objectives.

COVID19 STRATEGIESDuring these uncertain times, the event organisers committed to the ongoing planning of the 2021 event whilst maintaining a stronghold on the financial risk if the event does not go ahead.

As a sponsor, event organisers have identified deadlines to manage COVID19 restrictions and risks of second waves. The Busselton Jetty Swim 2021 marketing campaign will commence in September 2020 through to March 2021 with emphasis on the promotion of event sponsors immediately to ensure maximum coverage and exposure in the event of a cancellation.

Should the event be cancelled, event organisers will calculate a refund of investment in accordance to the time frame and the percentage of promotion, exposure and benefits received to date.

We believe Busselton Jetty Swim will assist and be pivotal in the recovery of so many local businesses, suppliers and services; unite a community and celebrate a new year.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICESBusselton Jetty Swim event organisers commenced discussions prior to the 2018 event, taking steps to be more environmentally sustainable and implementing strategies to reduce the impact our event may cause. The opportunities to minimize environmental impact were abundant in all areas of the event management. In addition to lessening environmental impacts, many of these initiatives also provided a better experience for event attendees, saved money and educated the wider public. Secondly, our swimmer surveys were an opportunity to listen to our consumers, recognise the urgency to protect our environment and endeavour to implement all strategies. Busselton Jetty Swim event organisers intend our event to be a leader in this space.

Event organisers priorities lie with waste; education; water and transport placing initiatives and strategies in place to ensure the ongoing protection of our environment and surroundings.

REPORTINGOur partners are given the opportunity to track their return of investment via three partner eNewsletters containing event statistics such as participant registration, social media insight reports and media hits. A post event acquittal report contains full details of the event including testimonials and feedback from participants.

The success of the event can be monitored via the Busselton Jetty Swim survey which is disseminated to all the swimmers and volunteers the week post the event. The survey is tailored to capture feedback, testimonials and recommendations for change from our stakeholders. From the 672 responses from the 2020 event, 88.54% deemed the event excellent and 10.71% deemed it good.
