NATIONAL JUNIOR ORIGINAL CONCERT 2012
On March 25, 20 Young Composers performed their own compositions at the National Junior Original Concert. This concert, which is a star event in the annual calendar of Yamaha Music Malaysia, was held at the Malaysian Tourism Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
The programme for this sell-out concert was a combination of Solo and Ensemble performances, which were selected from a series of Junior Original Concerts held at school level. The delightful young composers mesmerized the audience with their music in the 2-hour concert. The varied compositions reflected the children’s experiences, feelings and memories. It was also heart warming to hear compositions centred on humanitarian issues.
Motif Improvisation, a key event of the JOC, was a much anticipated and highlighted moment of the concert. This year, 2 students attempted to provide 2 different extemporizations from one motif written by a member of the audience. The audience was totally amazed by the spontaneous improvisation and performance of the performers.
Two (2) guest performers, 11-year old Vincent Ong and 7-year old Bridget Yee were also invited to perform their compositions which were selected for performances at the 2011 APJOC in Bangkok, and 2011 IJOC in Yokohama respectively.
The objectives of sharing the joy of music and inspiring creativity were visible and felt at the National Junior Original Concert, which was a forerunner for the upcoming 2012 APJOC . Yamaha Music Malaysia is proud to host the 2012 APJOC in Kuala Lumpur on November 6 , held at the prestigious Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, located at Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers.
