III. New School Prophetic Polluters Are The New “Antinomianists”
Quote #9: Antinomianism. (From Greek, anti, “against,” and nomos, “law). The view that there is no need for the law of God in the Christian life (Romans 3:8; 6:15). It appeared periodically throughout church history.9 Quote #10: Antinomianism – On the grounds that the Christian is saved by GRACE and not by works or moral effort, some Christians have claimed that the saved man is free from all moral obligations or principles.10
Quote #11: ANTINOMIANS, those who maintain that the law is of no use or obligation under the gospel dispensation.11
Quote #12: Antinomianism is an ethical system that denies the binding nature of any supposedly or external laws on individual behavior. Some antinomianists argue that Christians need not preach or practice the laws of the Old Testament because Christ’s merits have freed Christians from the law. Others, like the early Gnostics, teach that spiritual perfection come about through the attainment of a special knowledge rather than by obedience to law. Generally, Christian theology has rejected antinomianism on the basis that although Christians are not saved through keeping the law, we still have the responsibility to live uprightly, that is, in obedience to God’s law of love in service to one another (Galatians 5:13-14) as we walk by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16) who continually works to transform us into the image of Christ the Creator (Colossians 3:1, 7-10).12

Throughout the history of the Church, law and gospel have been variously related to one another…For Protestants the law was understood as the way to life given to Adam. After the fall the law could no longer function as the way to life for corrupted and sinful mankind because it could not keep the law perfectly. So the law – good and spiritual in itself – stood to condemn humanity. Men and women needed another way to life that could deliver from the guilt of sin. That way was provided in Jesus Christ. The gospel is good news that Jesus, the sinless One, keep the law in the place of His people and died to bear the curse fod sin, and that His saving work is received by faith alone, not by

obedience. The gospel then, is life through Jesus Christ who justifies belivers by forgiving their sin and imputing His righteousness to them. As the Reformers reflected on the law they came to see three uses for it. First, the law serves as a guide to society in promoting civic righteousness. Secondly, the law convicts sinners and drives them to Christ. Thirdly, the law directs Christians in holy living.13

IV. The New School “Lawless Church” Paving The Way For The Foretold Arrival Of The “Lawless One”:
• II Thessalonians 2:3a – A FALLING AWAY [a departure from the true] first,

Each of his names exhibits him as the antithesis of the true Christ. The Lord Jesus was the Righteous One; the Man of Sin will be the Lawless One. The Lord Jesus was “made under the law” (Galatians 4:4); the Antichrist will oppose all law, being a law unto himself. When the Savior entered this world, He came saying, “Lo, I come to do Thy will, O God” (Hebrews 10:9); but of the Antichrist it is written “And a king shall do according to

his will” (Daniel 11:36). The Antichrist will set himself up in direct opposition to all authority, both Divine and human.15 Quote #16: II Thessalonians chapter 2 contains the chief passage in the Epistles concerning Antichrist. Here he is denominated “that Man of Sin [the Lawless One], the Son of Perdition” (II Thessalonians 2:3). It is solemnly true that all men are sinners (Romans 3:23), but the Antichrist will be more than a sinner, he will be the Man of Sin. As such he will be the direct opposite of Christ, who was the Holy One of God. Sin in all its terrible satanic treachery, daring blasphemy, and tremendous appeal to corrupts hearts of men, will be consumated in this frightful monster.16
