Iceland In The Winter Time

I recently received a phone call from Mike Fitzgerald, Missionary to

Iceland. The country was having some financial problems and the Na-

tional Camp Ground needed some improvements to be up to codes by

next year’s meeting. Mike knew he needed some special forces to come

to Iceland in the dark winter time so he called on Pathfinders.

Let me back up and tell you a little bit about the Ark. The building has quite a bit of

history for the church but I won’t try to tell you all that. The Ark is 100 feet wide and is 300

feet long, The upstairs is made up of three large conference areas. It was in one of these

areas our team would focus at this time. It was our goal to insulate and sheetrock a 12 foot

high section on both sides of the conference room. Not only did we complete this but we

finished the drywall also. We worked from dark to dark. How do you do this? The sun

came up at 10 AM and went down at 3PM while we were there.

Don’t let my cold, icy pictures fool you. Iceland is a very beautiful and green coun-

try. They raise horses and sheep and have the best Salmon in the world. Mike and Sheila

are great hosts and would love to have you come with another team as soon as possible.

They want to bring this building up to codes for the next gathering of more than 6000 peo-

ple. This site hosts the largest gathering of Christians in the entire country of Iceland.
