Journeyworker Electrician!
Paths to Becoming aJourneyworker electrician
Master Electrician
Once an electrician has gained one year of experience working as a journeyworker, they are eligible to
test for a master electrician. license. Experience includes planning for, laying out, and supervising the
installation of wiring, apparatus and equipment for light, heat, & power.
An electrician must pass the Master Electrician exam to receive their Master’s license.
Once an individual receives their master electrician license, they could become an electrical contractor.
Additional licensing and regulations apply to starting a business.

Solar Power Technician, Telecommunications installer, Security and Fire Alarm System Installer, Electrical
