Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act The Greens: Elijah, Amber, Kayla, Patrick Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) is the direct comparison of existing healthcare interventions to determine which works best for which patients and which pose the greatest benefits and harms. Under the Independence at Home Demonstration, the CMS Innovation Center will work with medical practices to test the effectiveness of delivering comprehensive primary care services at home and if doing so improves care for Medicare beneficiaries with multiple chronic conditions. Additionally, the Demonstration will reward health care providers that provide high quality care while reducing costs. Amber Medicare (continued) Pay hospitals based on performance with a hospital value-based purchasing program. Develop plans to implement these programs for skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, and ambulatory surgical centers.
