PatientDynamics GPAQ

PatientDynamics is an independent research company specialising in patient experience. PatientDynamics is an approved supplier of NHS Patient Surveys and a licensed provider of GPAQ.

The General Practice Assessment Questionnaire has been developed at the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre in Manchester for the 2005 GP contract. GPAQ helps practices find out what patients think about their care. It specifically focuses on aspects of general practice that are not covered elsewhere in the Quality and Outcomes Framework – for example, access, inter–personal aspects of care and continuity of care. GPAQ is very similar to GPAS (the General Practice Assessment Survey), which has been extensively used and validated in general practice.

GPAQ Version 3 has been developed by the Cambridge Centre for Health Services Research at the University of Cambridge in collaboration with Peninsula Medical School. GPAQ was originally developed from the PCAS survey with permission of Dr Dana Gelb Safran.

The PatientDynamics GPAQ kit provides everything necessary to perform an independent, reliable survey for GPs with total confidentiality and anonymity for patients.

Report Structure

The results of the survey are summarized in the following sections:

1. Evaluation Questions – patients made a judgement about how good that aspect of care was. Each score is a mean for all patients who completed the question, represented as a percentage of the maximum possible score.

2. Report Questions – patients were asked about specific experiences or were asked for specific information.

3. Demographic Questions

Sample and Methodology

The practice / doctor sent in their analysis questionnaires to PatientDynamics. PatientDynamics entered the questionnaires and produced this report.

A minimum of 50 replies per doctor was recommended for analysis.

Q41. Finally, please add any comments you would like to make about your GP practice:

I would appreciate more speedy service and more specialist attention as GPs are not always fully qualified to understand sometimes complicated symptoms. More urgent needs should also be more quickly attended to with the care to human health in general.

Really enjoyed using this practice. Best I have been to. Thank you.

Always exceeds expectations. Very proactive health care. Thank you.

I am very satisfied with the practice.

I regularly refer people to this practice. The receptionists are excellent, the doctors are caring, considerate and willing to go the extra mile.

Following up on things the doctor says. That didn’t always happen with the doctor I have seen.

The practice is surely one of the best in this area. The reception area is well staffed and all staff are treated pleasantly and professionally.

Best all around doctors, nurses and practice I have ever used. Such a relief and very reassuring. Always recommended to friends and family. Thank you.

The GP sometimes calls us a couple of days after a visit, especially if it was concerning one of the children, which I think was an excellent service. Many thanks.

Best yet.

Very nice practice.

Not being able to order a repeat prescription over the telephone and being able to fax a request instead is both very inconvenient and very impractical. Needs to change.

It's very hard to get the phones answered at 8.30 for an emergency appointment, I think there should be more slots available for appointments for the day, apart from that a very lovely and friendly practice.

Since the Vale Practice set up, it has been much better to get to see the doctor of your choice and the doctor likes to connect with different family members when treating patients. She enquires about the health of the patient. Nice touch.

It would be nice if it would be possible to book appointments in the next calendar month, especially for baby immunisations.

I appreciate how friendly and helpful the reception staff are. I think there are 1 or 2 GPs who aren't as good in consultations, but overall I think this is an excellent practice.

Extremely helpful, respectful and understanding. Would refer when needed.

The doctor is brilliant.

Keep up the good work and high standards. Thank you.

Great.

When I moved to the area 3 years ago I researched which practice to join. Vale Practice was recommended and I've always felt very well cared for and safe here. Thanks.
