Inside this edition:
Did you read about changes to our lunch program? The following changes were communicated before Thanksgiving break. A brief explanation follows the change.
1. Late orders will not be accepted. It is very difficult to add orders to the count after the deadline. Lately, the list of families asking for late orders has grown to a level that we cannot maintain. For December, we sent an email out on 11/21 and a reminder early 11/28 for the 11/28 due date. We will continue to do this for coming months. 2. All orders placed, including extra entree, will be billed to the family. If we order a lunch, we are charged by Taher for the lunch. Recently, families have ordered and then sent a lunch with their child or decided not to take extra entree, even though it was ordered. In both cases, the school ends up paying for the unused lunch. Going forward, you will be billed for what was ordered, with the exception of an illness, field trip, or unplanned appointment.
These changes will improve our lunch ordering policy and alleviate the headaches involved with trying to scramble to get late orders in. We will be surveying families about the lunch program sometime early next year, so families will have a chance to express the strengths and challenges of the program. Hope. In October and November we focused on Charity, to love God with everything we have, and our neighbor as ourselves. In December and January, we will be discussing the theological virtue of Hope. Simply put, Hope is trusting in God’s loving plan. Over the next couple of months, teachers will weave Hope into lessons. Early Catholic Family Life (ECFL) is coming to SEAS ECC program. At our last SAC meeting, I discussed the Early Catholic Family Life program. This program was developed by Joanne and Alan Foley along with the Office of Marriage, Family, and Life in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The goal of the program is:
To provide parents with tools and opportunities to teach their children the Catholic faith. To strengthen the faith of parents and enhance their knowledge of the Catholic faith through active personal involvement in faith formation and through the witness of other faith-filled families. To develop relationships and connections with other Catholic families through small group discussion of Catholic topics of interest to parents.
To grow our Catholic preschool enrollment. What we need to get this program up and running is a dedicated school parent who is willing to devote their time and talent. A stipend and training is provided. Training sessions are offered throughout the month of January. Interested? Email me today at [email protected].
We value your feedback on two short forms! 1. You can nominate someone for Heart of the School using this form: Heart of the School Award 2. What are the strengths and challenges of SEAS Catholic School? Let us know anonymously by filling out this form Strengths and Challenges of SEAS School. Have a great week and God bless!
