On September 17, 1787

39 of the 55 founding fathers signed the United States Constitution at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA.

These were brave men who changed our history. Today we remember this important document and what it means for all citizens of the United States. It is the highest law in the United States.

Here is a picture of the first part of the US Constitution.

We the People of the UnitedStates, in order to form a moreperfect union, establish justice,insure domestic tranquility, providefor the common defense, promotethe general welfare, and secure theblessings of liberty to ourselves andour posterity, do ordain and establishthis Constitution for the UnitedStates of America.

The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States

At 2 PM on September 18, General Colin Powell will lead our whole country as he recites the Preamble to the US Constitution. The Preamble is an introduction to the Constitution.
