  • 6Description: A project designed to help develop basic photography, photo editing and photo design skills.

    Date: May 23rd, 2015

    Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 3 Brother Pingel

    Program(s)/Tools:Professional camera & Photoshop

Objectives: Learn basic photography skills. Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout. Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it. Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (non-destructive editing.) Size and crop the image, then place on an 8.511 page layout. Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop. Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8 (0.125) from all four sides.

Process:First, I thought of what type of message I wanted to portray with my photo. After deciding on my message, I chose my color scheme, that way when I took my photo I knew what colors to bring out. I chose a few things in my area that I would like to photograph and then I took pictures of these subjects at different angles. I proceeded to select my favorite image, and then made sketches of what I would like my designto look like. I then took my image to Photoshop and created my design. Then, I met with my peers to get somefeedback on my design. After getting the feedback, I used it to review my design and improve it. Finally, I saved and printed my project, and created my blog post.

Using the hex color picker, I determined the codes for the colors I would apply to my webpage.
