All his videos all share a similar style and image but all these videos share a similar story, background and music genre. The videos (Motley Crue-If I Die Tomorrow; Slipknot- Psychosocial and Sixx AM- Lies of the beautiful People) all directed by Paul R. Brown all share similarities, these examples use snappy editing techniques, and pull focuses which looks like the camera is trying to focus in and out, these technique I really admire and will consider for my music video. In the next slide show it shows a group of print crabs of the example videos I have chosen , each screen grab is an example of my interest in Paul R Browns techniques with the snappy editing and quick motion with the song. He also used animation work with the Motley Crue song which linked with the art work this was a good technique but it won’t be something I will be consider however. The slipknot video shows exactly the technique I am defiantly considering as it shows the pull focus in an obvious way it used was shot using high-end cameras.

When creating a music video it is important to have a unique style or image, Paul Brown does this, with his style of editing and artistic imagery he creates a music video with feelings. The majority of the bands he works with are of a hard rock/ heavy metal background (with a few exceptions) he focuses on one genre in particular because his style works so well with the type of genre. I chose Paul Brown because I love his snappy editing techniques and the use of camera angles which shows of the artist musical ability at angles the human eye can't see (like the image of the drums opposite), I'm really considering on using these techniques as I believe they show a different view on the artist and with lighting used as well as the techniques and the camera angles it creates an effect that brings the songs meaning to life. Another reason why I choose Paul Brown to research because he is also a graphic designer and photographer, through his videos they prove that he is designer and photographer as they show an images of artistic references through techniques which I believe he learned through design and photography. In conclusion Paul Brown is an icon at this stage because in creating a music video I have to research how successful directors begin their ideas or how they create a video, Paul Brown has a style that is consistent through all of his videos.
