Boston, Massachusetts

• Boston was part of the colonies (places controlled by Britain). Revere was from here!

Massachusetts is the state that is RED on the map below. It is located in the northeast part of the United States.

Massachusetts was part of the 13 colonies that Britain (or England) controlled from across the Atlantic Ocean. People didn’t like paying taxes to another country that wouldn’t help their own.

Money went from American to England.

Patriot

• Someone living in the US, but being controlled under British rule (patriots didn’t like this).

Revere loved America and didn’t want to send his hard earned money to a country he didn’t live in, that wasn’t going to help make his home any better. Go Revere!!!

Liberty

• Freedom from control by another.

Paul Revere helped his country gain its independence from Britain. He helped form the United States of America! Being a great silversmith, he even made a bell, known as the Liberty Bell, to symbolize America’s freedom.

Does anybody know what the American symbol below is called?
