Your garden landscaping project represents a considerable investment and shouldendure many years of seasonal changes, so it is therefore very important to considerthe quality of stone used. There are many cheap blends of natural stone offered byretailers that may not stand the test of time and once installed may disappoint in theirappearance. Pavestone landscaping products are never engineered to meet the lowestpossible price point. Our commitment is always to produce natural stone withconsistent aesthetics, dimensional quality and durability. All Pavestone products arerigorously tested to ensure your investment continues to add value to your property, year after year.

Original Raj Green Sandstone.
Our Original Raj Green is the authentic green tingedpaving of India and can be found in and around manyIndian Palaces. In the past, it was favoured by the royalrulers of India because it was thought to resemble gardenlawns. Today, Pavestone has selected it for its consistent, beautiful greeny/brown colouration.
Classic SandstonePart of the character of Sandstone paving is that no two stones are coloured the same; however, when combined they create a rich tapestry of
colour to make a beautiful overall hue.
Seasonal changes can often bring a differingperspective to the reflected colours of the stone. In
strong summer sunlight a sandstone patio will appear to have less colour variation, whilst after rain the colours will be of deep patina.

This knowledge helps us to create changes to our manufacturing and supplychain activities to reduce the amount of carbon we produce. In doing this weare able to demonstrate our progress and our positive contribution towardsclimate change.
Pavestones manufacturing operations reduced its carbon emissions by an astounding 19.2% in 2011. This represents a total carbon emissionreduction since implementation of the scheme some three years ago of in excess of 55%.
The Carbon Trust Standard is awarded only to organisations that measure, manage and reduce their carbon footprint and organisations that achieve theStandard are taking real action to reduce their direct impact on climatechange. Pavestone is one of only 300 or so companies to achieve theStandard.
The Carbon Trust was established in June 2008 and certification was createdto provide a much needed clear and robust definition of good practice and foruse as an independent endorsement of an organisations achievements incarbon reduction. Working with leading organisations, the trust certifies theirperformance in measuring, managing and reducing their greenhouse gasemissions and provides an objective benchmark againstwhich to assess an organisation's commitment and successin addressing its climate change impact.

We also seek to contribute to the economic success of the communities in which we work and to provide a safe, secure working environment for both our employees and oursupplier partners employees.

Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI)
The ETI is an alliance of companies, trade union organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) committed to working together toensure that the working conditions of employees in companies that supplygoods to consumers in the UK meet or exceed international standards. 211 million of the world's children under 15 (one in five) works full or part-time.
At least 20 million people are affected by bonded labour. One in four people in the world live on less than a dollar a day.
The ETI Base Code1. Employment should be freely chosen with no forced, bonded or
involuntary labour.
2.Workers have the right to join or form trade unions of their own choosingand to bargain collectively.
3. A safe and healthy working environment shall be provided.
4. Child labour shall not be used.
5.Wages should always be enough to meet basic needs and to providesome discretionary income.
6.Working hours are not excessive and comply with national laws andbenchmark industry standards.
7.Workers should be treated equally regardless of race, caste, nationalorigin, religion, age, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, union membership or political affiliation.
8. Regular employment for individuals should be provided where work isongoing.
9.No harsh or inhumane treatment of workers. Physical abuse (or threat of),sexual or other harassment including verbal abuse or intimidation shall be prohibited.

Pavestone has always been acutely conscious of the concerns raised throughconsumers increasing awareness of the ethical issues associated with theproduction of natural stone products from India.
For many years we have been importing only from audited stone producerswho can successfully demonstrate that that their processes meet the moraland ethical codes as established by the ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) Base Code. In doing so we have contributed to the economic success of the communities in which our stone processors work and have helped to provide a safer and more secure working environment for our supplierpartners' employees.
At a most basic level, these are the reasons that ETI exists.
By adopting the ETI Base Code and working with other ETI members,Pavestone is seeking to assist in the process of establishing new standardsof working practice so as to provide a better quality of life for thoseemployed in the quarrying and processing of natural stone in India.
Malbros distribute free blankets every winter season todeprived members of the local community.
Books are also distributed freely to local schools along withsupplementary school uniforms and lunches for the schoolchildren. Malbros also facilitates the provision of toilets andwashroom facilities to these schools.
Helping to provide a brighter future
Pavestone has a fundamental belief thatthe poor and vulnerable within thecommunities that produce our stoneproducts should derive benefits from ourlocal trading beyond the simplicity of thestone workers pay. We work closely inpartnership with our suppliers to improvethe quality of life, not only for thoseimmediately employed by our supplypartners but also all those living in andaround their community.
Two areas we have identified with oursupply partners Malbros and MP Goyal tofocus on are the health and education ofthe communities of those involved in oursupply chain. Some examples of theongoing initiatives are listed opposite.

Close jointing should be filled with a suitable flexible floor tile grout.
Close jointing should be filled with a suitable flexible floor tile grout.
As with all natural stone, occasionally white bloom or brown rust-likemarkings can appear on the face of the paving some weeks after installation. These markings occur when mineral deposits at the surface react withrainwater to create a blooming effect. The blemishes can be quite easilyremoved with a proprietary cleaner. For specific advice on cleaning your patio, if these blemishes appear, pleaseemail Pavestone - [email protected]
DimensionsAll dimensions quoted for natural stone are nominal and as most are hand made they willbe subject to manufacturing tolerances. The area coverage quoted in the brochureincludes the appropriate joint widths to enable the correct amount of product to bepurchased to cover a given area. Where space is critical and particularly when a circle orfeature kit is being incorporated into a design, it is essential that the product is dry laid inorder to understand the gaps required to make the feature work. Retrospective correction ofgaps once a job is underway is not always possible. Basic laying patterns with joint widthsare available upon request from Pavestone. We reserve the right to change dimensions andpack sizes without notice.
ColoursOur reconstituted stone and concrete products contain natural aggregates and pigments andare manufactured in production batches. This means we cannot guarantee that productsfrom different batches will have identical colouration. Therefore, it is adviseable that whenusing several packs of the same product on a project, the product is used randomly from allof the packs so as to achieve an overall blended appearance. Variations in colour andshading will occur in natural stone paving. The swatches reproduced in this brochure are asaccurate as reprographic processes allow and are indications of the overall hue produced bythe variety of colour variations in the given product. It is essential that you view the actualproduct at your stockist prior to purchasing. It is also advisable that when the chosenproduct is delivered to your site, that you inspected it to deem it suitable prior to installation. When laying multiple packs of natural stone paving care should be taken to ensure thatproduct is drawn equally from all of the available packs as the project progresses ratherthan one pack at a time. This eliminates odd patches of colours and will give a seamlessand more natural blend to the finished project.

Permeable Block PavingRecent changes to the permitted development rights that allow householders to pave theirfront garden or hardstanding without planning permission have changed.Planning permission is now required to lay traditional impermeable driveways that allowuncontrolled run-off of rainwater from front gardens onto roads, because this cancontribute to flooding and pollution of water-courses. In many cases, it will be possible tocontrol the runoff of rainwater and so conventional block paving will probably besuitable for your project. For more details on Paving of Front Gardens and planning permissions, please contact:Department for Communities and Local Government,Eland House, Bressenden Place, London SW1E 5DUTelephone: 020 7944 4400www.communities.gov.uk
SealingTo avoid grout or mortar staining natural stone flooring laidinternally, it is recommended that a uniform treatment of apropriatory sealant be applied prior to grouting and againafterwards to fully protect the stone. The seal, which onporous stone may need up to four coats, will also provide aprotective coating against wear in most light trafficsituations.
Chamfered edgesHand split natural stone paving usually has chamfered edges. Always lay the stone withthe chamfered edges down.
