BENEFITS OF PCL AGILEcomponents. With easy access to road, rail, and ship, PCL is able to serve the prefabrication needs of clients across North America.

PCL Agile is a versatile component of PCL’s broad offering of construction services with many benefits:

We are able to draw on in-house resources, and those of our trade and consultant partners, to integrate PCL Agile seamlessly into project deliveries.

Engineering, module assembly, and site work can proceed concurrently when modular construction techniques are employed, significantly reducing overall cycle time.

Improved site access, reduced congestion and trade stacking, and less need for scaffolding all enhance productivity and safety.

Modularization allows workers to perform a constant scope of work closer to the ground and in accordance with consistent standards, procedures, and policies.

Because so much construction is performed off-site, modularization greatly reduces workforce requirements including camp and transportation costs, making it a sustainable choice.

Our PCL Agile team includes BIM (Revit), project management, and production staff, supplemented by in-house specialists, supporting the integration of the appropriate solution into projects.

The PCL Agile team is able to work with project stakeholders to determine the most appropriate construction solution.

PCL Agile reinforces our century-long track record as a construction company dedicated to providing construction services that are focused on meeting each client’s unique needs.

Case Study: Humber River Hospital In a three-month period, PCL Agile produced 360 patient bathrooms for the Humber River Hospital project site, much faster than these could have been ‘stick-built’ on site. Compact modules incorporating finishing, mechanical and electrical trade scopes were slipped into the building structure where, once in place and using telescoping structure, the module was expanded to finished height for quick tie-in to main services, drywalling and painting … a true ‘plug and play’ solution that saved the project significant time and resources, while minimizing environmental impacts.

As a wide-ranging solution provider, PCL offers modular construction at all levels, from individual finished elements such as wall panels, to combined building systems elements such as a pre-fabricated structural system that integrates building systems and finishes, to full 3D modules that can be integrated into a complete building solution.

As manager of PCL Agile, Troy has ultimate accountability for the overall operation of the manufacturing facility and the day-to-day management of Agile. He is passionate about innovation and leading change that brings value to our clients. He fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement to enhance PCL’s service offering to our clients in regard to quality, safety, and speed to market.

As a driver for value creation, PCL Agile brings together DFMA (design for manufacture and assembly), BIM, self-perform, and PCL’s purchasing power.

Troy has more than 15 years of construction experience. He joined PCL’s industrial operations in Edmonton in 2006 where offsite solutions are paramount to the overall success of our projects, before being relocated to Toronto in 2014 to bring additional strength to the district’s offsite offerings. Troy’s journey has taken him through estimating, project coordination, project management, and business development primarily through the self-perform districts of PCL.

Troy is a professional engineer, holds a degree in electrical engineering and a diploma in telecommunications engineering. He was the PCL Intracon district winner of the Robert Stollery Construction Leadership Award in 2011 and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
