What a fantastic sunset on Thursday,
May 21 from the beach at PCYC. The
lake was dead calm, not a cloud in the
sky, and the setting sun glistened off the
mirrored lake. The night before we had a
tremendous isolated thunderstorm which
filled the pool, watered the new flowers,
and has caused the club grass to explode.
The Rear Commodore has kept a slew of
volunteers busy remodeling the mens
bathroom, repairing picnic tables, and
remodeling the bathrooms at the pool.
The Garden Committee has been hard at
work allowing the club blossom intocolor. The shuffleboard court was
opened for the season by the Monday
night crew and the tennis court has been
busy. By the time you read this, our first
big, busy Memorial Day weekend will be
over and the club will be in full swing for
the summer season.
Please check your committee
assignment or assignments in the
yearbook or on the club website.
If you if have a conflict with the
schedule please find a substituteso the committee is not left short
handed. You can always count
on your sponsor to help you out
I would hope! We always can
use extra help on the New Years
Eve committee December 31
and the Recognition Dinner in
January, 2015. The social calen-
dar runs from May 1st, 2014 to
April 30, 2015 which can be a bitconfusing. We are unable to print
the yearbook and make commit-
tee assignments until we review
your committee request form on
January 1stand finalize the club
calendar. The yearbook is
printed in April. Committee
Chairman Function reports
from previous years are available
from the club files at the club or
from the Social Committee.
Committee Report forms are
available from the Club website,
the bulletin board in the kitchen,
or the social committee.
If you see something around
the club that needs attention,
please relay that information to
the Caretaker, Facilities Manager,
Flag Officer, or Board members.
The more of us you tell the bet-
ter. This is the second year for
our trial pet policy change. Thecurrent policy is posted on the
club bulletin boards and is not
published in the yearbook.
Did you notice: that club mem-
ber Gloria D has her cast off her
recently broken ankle and is al-
ready volunteering to mow the
grass , that the sail fleet has al-
ready run the years first Regatta
(Laser Qualifier), had their firstAuxiliary Race, and has contrib-
uted nicely to the bar sales, that
the pool and grounds look
great!!, that the water snakes are
already trying to find ways to
colonize your boats, and that
Mike H and Mike H need to
work on their fishing skills and
finally that it is not a good idea to
park behind or near the Commo-dores truck.
Have a great June!!

Half of the year is almostgone and summer is justabout in full bloom. Ourboaters are back in themarina and our groundsand green space are readyfor use by our members. This year I have come torealize that it takes a lotof people to ready ourclub for the summer sea-son. From the docks to
the buildings and pool, Icant begin to thank allthe people that havehelped with all the tasks.I hope that all of you canstop over and enjoy ourclub. Anyone that hasntstopped by on a Saturdaymorning has missed agreat time to socializewith your fellow members
at our Bloody Mary Socialevent. This weekly eventstarts this weekend andcontinues through LaborDay.
The pool is on scheduleto open Memorial Dayweekend and you will no-tice some changes. ThePool committee, alongwith John Henry Bolte
and Eric, have beenworking hard to get it inoperating condition. Therestrooms have beenrenovated with new ep-
oxy flooring and plasticpartitions. Chuck andEric took care of thedemo work and pleasethank Bill Moon, RockSherer, John Folger, PCGeoff Bailey, Dave Ober-gefell and CommodoreMike for their help in in-stalling the new partitions.Soon we will add a threecompartment sink in the
pool kitchen to allow foradditional food and drinkservice to our members. You can expect that wewill utilize our pool formore social events thissummer. We are alwayslooking for new ideas touse our facilities for ourmembers.
Restrooms seem to be my
common theme for 2014.Our club house mensrestroom project is com-plete. Besides the floorand partitions we added aDyson Hand dryer to therestroom. It will save onpaper and cleanup. It willdry your hands in 12 sec-onds, so they say. Yourfeedback on the hand
dryer would be appreci-ated as we are contem-plating installing one inthe womens restroom.
With all our talented
members it sure makesmy job as the RC easier. If you have time to do-nate, we will find some-thing for you to do. Ournext project has not beenidentified but we arelooking into upgradingseveral items in thekitchen such as silverwareand china. Your input isalways welcome, so please
let anyone on the boardor flag know what yourideas are that would im-prove our club.
What lucky people we areas members. Our Cluband grounds is one of themost beautiful places inthe Port Clinton area.Just Remember This isyour club, use it and
have fun.

District 18 Area E Laser semi-final championships: The water was
cold but the sailing was hot! We had wonderful weather May 16-18
as PCYC once again hosted this laser event. Sailors from Chicago
and inland lakes in Ohio and Indiana were excited to race on the
open waters of Lake Erie. Our own local talent included Thomas
McRitchie and Tyler Brand.Another reason the Laser class likes to race at PCYC is how well
we run the event. Thank you to Principal Race Officer (PRO) DaveNighswander for executing some great races. Other members andvolunteers that made this regatta successful were Marti Nighswan-der, Jim and JJ Miller in the start boat; Mark Sprenger, SaraHanselman and Jasmin Jordan land finish boat;and Duane Schnei-der, Tim Larcey, Ethan Taylor and Tony, the Brit Mark and SafetyBoats.Special thanks to Mark Sprenger for his use of "ThinIce" and"Center Ice" and Ed and Gwen Casey for the use of "Hedge Fun".
