PDA COVID Health & Safety Plan  Dear PDA Family,  As the COVID pandemic evolves, the focus of the PDA will remain the HEALTH and SAFETY of our student athletes. Our decision to resume “in-person” training and to reopen the PDA facility will be based on the recommendations and guidelines provided at the state and federal levels.  To adapt to the current situation, we are implementing a new series of regulations to create a safer environment for our players. We recognize that despite our best efforts, COVID will pose a risk for all players and families for the foreseeable future.  It is important to state that the club’s position is that your player’s “in-person” attendance at PDA practice over the summer months (June-August) is OPTIONAL. Bringing your child to “in-person” training should be an informed decision made by the player and his/her family. It is important to share your decision with your player’s coach.   Since all families have different circumstances and levels of comfort, we want to emphasize that players who are not attending “in-person” practice this summer WILL NOT be penalized for their absences.  Below, you will find the PDA Health & Safety Plan and the PDA COVID Alert Response Plan. These documents reflect new club-wide policies and procedures to increase the safety of the PDA community during the ongoing COVID pandemic.  Sincerely, The PDA Health & Safety Team

INTRODUCTION AT HOME ON YOUR PRACTICE DAY

PDA Health & Safety Plan - 1

The PDA has established a Health and Safety Team to evaluate and enforce policies and procedures during the COVID Pandemic.

This team is made up of the PDA Directors of Coaching and key staff members from all PDA regions (North, South and Shore).

The team has enacted a Health & Safety Plan, which has 3 sections:1. At Home On Your Practice Day (light blue)2. Upon Arrival At The PDA (blue)3. What Training Will Look Like (dark blue)

Please familiarize yourself with this plan in its entirety.

NOTE: The confidentiality of all medical information will be respected and information will not be disclosed except as otherwise required and provided hereunder to effectuate the purposes and provisions of this health and safety plan.

While at home BEFORE EACH PDA PRACTICE, student athletes, coaches, and staff must complete the online PDA COVID Screening Questionnaire/ CONSENT to Return to Play. This online screening tool will evaluate the player’s answers to questions and instruct the player to proceed to the PDA for practice (GO SCREEN) or to stay home (STOP SCREEN).

1. All information submitted through the online PDA COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire will be evaluated by the PDA Health and Safety Team. In the event that a team member screens as “high risk” for exposure to COVID-19, the information submitted will be used for contact tracing within the PDA, possible modification of the team’s training schedule, and notification of all potential exposures within the club.

2. If a player tests positive for COVID-19 or is given the clinical diagnosis of COVID-19, the player will not be permitted to attend PDA practices.

3. Players who have tested positive for COVID-19 must submit a medical clearance letter from a qualified medical healthcare provider to the PDA Health and Safety Team permitting them to return to play.

4. All players, coaches and staff must take their temperatures at home before coming to the PDA campus.4

3. Players must remain in their vehicle until the exact start of their practice. No congregating in groups will be permitted on the PDA campus.

4. If a family has multiple children that are members of the PDA -- and those children have different practice times -- we request that the non-practicing players remain in their car until their practice time begins.

5. Players are not permitted to eat on the PDA campus unless in their own vehicle.

6. Players must show their coaches their PDA COVID Screening Questionnaire “GREEN GO” screen before the beginning of each practice.

7. For younger players who do not have a phone, a parent may show their “GREEN GO” screen to their player’s coach before the beginning of practice.

8. Players that fail to show their coach their “GREEN GO” result screen upon arriving at the PDA will not be permitted to attend practice.

NOTE: For age groups 2008-2013, players need to be escorted to the field with 1 adult family member to ensure social distancing takes place on the walk from parking to the field.

1. Players are advised to sanitize their hands prior to arrival at their training session; players are responsible for bringing their own hand sanitizer to practice.

2. Coaches are advised to sanitize their hands prior to and in between each training session; coaches are responsible for bringing their own hand sanitizer to practice.

3. Training sessions will be 75min in duration.4. Training groups are limited to 10-15 players. These

groups will remain the same during our first phase of return to training.

Management of PDA Coaches Who Are

Healthcare Workers (PDA/HCP)

The following recommendations were adapted from the current CDC guidelines.

Purpose

This interim guidance is intended to assist with assessment of risk and application of work restrictions at the PDA for asymptomatic coaches who are healthcare personnel with potential exposure to patients, visitors, or other medical staff with confirmed COVID-19 or persons under investigation for COVID-19 (PUIs). Because of their often extensive and close contact with vulnerable individuals in healthcare settings, a conservative approach to monitoring PDA/HCP and applying work restrictions is recommended to prevent transmission from potentially contagious HCP to members of the PDA community.

PDA /HCP who have had an exposure to a COVID-19 positive patient will be required to self monitor for a minimum of 14 days. COVID-19 testing and restriction from duties at the PDA will be required should the PDA/HCP develop symptoms of COVID-19 or should the level of the PDA/HCP’s exposure be deemed “High-Risk”.

A “High Risk” exposure involves prolonged exposure of a HCP’s eyes, nose or mouth to materials from a COVID-19 patient without PPE or having body contact with a COVID-19 patient without PPE. The definition of “prolonged” refers to a time period of 15 minutes or more.

Failure to perform proper hand hygiene or any exposure that occurs during the performance of an aerosol- generating procedure will also be considered “High Risk”.

7

Page 8: PDA Return to Train · 3. PDA maintenance staff will be given necessary PPE to use during cleaning tasks. (PPE may include gloves, respirator, masks , goggles and/or face shields.)

A COVID-19 positive PDA/HCP will be restricted from their duties at the PDA until they are fully recovered, show proof of a negative COVID-19 test and have submitted a letter of medical clearance from a qualified medical professional to the PDA Health and Safety Team.

Finally, as stated in our PDA Health and Safety Plan, all coaches are required to participate in the online PDA COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire before coming to the PDA campus. The questionnaire results will be monitored closely to ensure compliance by PDA/HCP and all PDA coaches.

Sincerely, The PDA Health & Safety Team

PDA Coach, Staff, & Player Temperature

Screening Protocol

The PDA will be implementing onsite temperature screening for all coaches and staff before the beginning of each practice.  PDA players will be required to monitor their temperatures at home prior to coming to the PDA Campus. Players will attest that they are afebrile (T< 100.4 F) when completing the PDA COVID-19 Questionnaire.  Our hope is to take meaningful and proactive steps towards enhancing the safety of the PDA community.  While temperature screening will not effectively identify asymptomatic cases, it does have the ability to catch positive cases and help prevent a potential outbreak at the PDA.    It must be stated that many people who test positive for COVID-19 are asymptomatic. Players and Coaches must continue to take appropriate precautions as outlined in the PDA Health and Safety Guidelines and to self-monitor and report the presence of any other symptoms to the PDA Health and Safety Team.  GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES FOR TEMPERATURE CHECKS FOR PDA COACHES AND STAFF

1. Temperature checks will be performed on all PDA Coaches and Staff. 2. Temperature checks will be conducted by members of the PDA Health and

Safety Team (Temperature Screeners)  3. Non-contact infrared thermometers will be used.

10

Page 11: PDA Return to Train · 3. PDA maintenance staff will be given necessary PPE to use during cleaning tasks. (PPE may include gloves, respirator, masks , goggles and/or face shields.)

4. Temperature Screeners must use a face mask, face shield or goggles and disposable gloves when conducting temperature checks.

5. Since a non-contact infrared thermometer will be used Temperature Screeners are not required to change their gloves between players.

6. PDA Coaches and staff who are found to have a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher will be sent home immediately and instructed to promptly contact their healthcare provider.

7. The PDA Health and Safety Team will be notified of any PDA Coaches or staff who screen positive for a fever.

8. Temperature Screeners will be trained on how to safely complete temperature screens, the proper use and disposal of PPE, and maintaining PDA Coach/ Staff privacy.
