Increased prize money in both of its Grandprix

events highlight the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows at the North Elba Showgrounds in the beautiful Adirondack Moun-tains, through July 8. Annually, the horse shows serve as the official start of summer for top riders from across the country. Not many horse shows can com-bine a world-class event with small town charms and continually bring together families, celebrities, Olym-pians, and an array of cham-pions like the Lake Placid

Horse Shows. What sets the horse shows apart from all others is not only the shows and show grounds, but also the incredible beauty of the village of Lake Placid and the surrounding Adirondack Region. Lake Placid attracts Amer-ica’s best show jumping riders, like Olympic vet-eran and ten-time Ameri-can Grandprix Association Rider of the Year Margie Goldstein Engle and 2004 Athens Olympic team Gold Medalists Chris Kappler and McLain Ward. The 2007 Lake Placid

Horse Shows include two American Grandprix As-sociation (AGA) Grandprix Series events—the $75,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake Placid CSI 3* Present-ed by RV Sales of Broward on Sunday, July 1 and the $75,000 Hermès Grandprix CSI 3* on Saturday, July 7. Both Grandprix events are FEI sanctioned, offer-ing riders the opportunity to earn valuable points on the international rider rankings. “The Grandprix events we host always attract a world-class line-up of show jump-ing’s best horses and riders,”

said Lake Placid Horse Show Association Executive Di-rector Lori Martin. “These Grandprix are the highlights of our horse shows and we feel this increased prize money is fitting, given the prominence and prestige of the events.” After the Hermès Grand-prix, the Richard and Diana Feldman Perpetual Chal-lenge Trophy for Excellence will be awarded to the rider who has won the most prize money in Lake Placid’s two Grandprix combined.
